Your New Job

Job Summary:

Responsible for the overall direction, administration, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects. Manages project scope, budget and schedule to establish operational priorities and maintains satisfactory relationships with construction coordinators, sub-contractors, and vendors.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
  • Prioritize and drive a safety first work culture
  • Manage a team of Fiber Splicers, Engineers and Planners
  • Manage fiber splicing and engineering network, provide maintenance support 24 hours, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Schedule and prioritize the workload of fiber engineering, splicing and testing
  • Manage record documentation completed by Fiber Engineers, Fiber Splicers.
  • Overall responsibilities for fiber asset management associated with the implementation and maintenance of fiber networks and services.
  • Develop district level long range network plan to support future schedule.
  • Work with & train staff to use Fiber Optic test equipment including OTDR, etc.
  • Work jointly with the leadership from Engineering, Construction, Field Operations.
  • Establish, monitor, and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of deliverables and supporting workflows to measure operational performance, as well as identify and assess areas of opportunity for improved process efficiencies and performance.
  • Maintain knowledge of technology in use, and/or under development for its impact or potential impact on the operational business process
  • Maintain quality service by understanding and enforcing organization standards.
  • Develop and coach both direct employees, as well as ensuring similar opportunities throughout the team. Identify training gaps and create a career path for team members.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field preferred
  • Experience working as a telecommunications splicing
  • 5+ years in Splicing, Engineering and FTTH management experience
  • 5+ years’ OSP Fiber splicing experience a must and 3+ years management experience:
    • Direct supervision/management of employees.
    • Fiber engineering design, splicing and/or construction implementation experience.
    • Experience with optical test equipment including OTDR, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer.
    • Experience with GIS mapping tools.
    • Working knowledge of fiber construction standards (aerial and underground).
    • Working knowledge of NESC, NEC and OSHA standards preferred.
  • Experience in splicing design engineering, quality management and assurance
  • Knowledge of construction methods and technologies, and ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts
  • Knowledge of resource management and scheduling methods
  • Ability to lead others in the completion of a project within schedule, budget guidelines, and customer requirements
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management
  • Ability to manage multiple work zones simultaneously with a constant eye on quality
  • Knowledge of jobsite safety practices
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record
  • Physical requirements:
    • Ability to stand, stoop, squat and bend for extended periods of time
    • Ability to walk for extended periods of time and/or long distances
    • Ability to navigate through potential uneven walkways/terrain
    • Tolerant to extreme elements (heat, sun, wind, rain, snow, etc.)
    • Good vision and depth perception (corrective lenses OK)
    • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods of time
    • Ability to lift 10lbs minimum, and potentially up to 50lbs
  • Fiber engineering design, splicing and/or construction implementation experience.
  • Experience with optical test equipment including OTDR, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer.
  • Experience with GIS mapping tools.
  • Working knowledge of fiber construction standards (aerial and underground).
  • Working knowledge of NESC, NEC and OSHA standards preferred.
Technical
  • Skilled in interpreting telecommunications construction drawings in hard copy and digital format
  • Experienced in providing redline updates to construction plans
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • GIS experience is a plus
