FIBER SPLICER I

Reports to: Outside Plant Manager

Summary Repairs and maintains outside plant telecommunications facilities by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Must be able to read light levels.

Must be familiar with all RUS practices and standards.

Working knowledge of Fiber counts

Performs 288 count

Color Coding fiber

Able to splice and prepare splice fiber cases & handholds, work in confined spaces, install and prep pedestals, interpret and implement Staking sheets, and read and implement splice cases and pedestals

Ability to lift and load equipment and materials onto company vehicles, minimum 50 lbs.

Performs preventative and routine maintenance.

Receives, investigates, resolves and tracks trouble tickets.

 This position requires on call duty.

The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
