Location:

The individual in this role will support services and work in the field throughout South Central Kansas. Employees will travel to our Ideatek office located at: 111 Old Mill Lane Buhler, Kansas for training, meetings and equipment.

We are growing! Our team is seeking a motivated Fiber Technician to support our expanding business operations and connect surrounding communities. Key Responsibilities (not limited to):

• Perform independent fiber-to-the-home installations and ensure prompt repairs.
• Install and repair residential and business VoIP services.
• Diagnose and resolve customer connectivity and service problems.
• Provide an outstanding in-home/business customer experience through friendly, patient, and knowledgeable service regarding FTTP, gateways, and WiFi.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of aerial and underground fiber optic networks.
• Install service drops from the terminal to customer homes or businesses.
• Operate a bucket truck in a safe and efficient manner for aerial installations and repairs, strictly following all Department of Transportation (DOT) and OSHA safety guidelines.
• Adhere to all safety protocols as outlined in the company handbook.

Experience/Knowledge Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Comfortable and able to work in both underground and aerial environments (e.g., climbing ladders up to 32ft and operating a bucket truck).
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
• Able to enter and safely operate a bucket truck with a weight limit of 300 lbs.
• Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays.

Preferences:

• General knowledge of telecommunications services, including internet, wireless, and phone systems.
• Flexibility to work a Tuesday-Saturday schedule.
