Job Description - Field Application Engineer

We are looking for an Application Engineer to help validate NVIDIA Aerial product offerings and lead external adoption efforts. At NVIDIA, our Application Engineers are drawn from elite developers and scientists who enjoy working with the latest in GPU hardware and software! As an Telecom Application Engineer, your duties will vary from driving internal validation and benchmarking of our NVIDIA Aerial SDK reference applications, pipelines and toolkits to inventing proof-of-concept demonstrations driving customer adoptions. Dynamically engaging with internal experts and senior leaders is an important part of the Application Engineering role, and will give you experience with a range of partners and concerns.NVIDIA’s platform for machine learning, deep learning, and high-performance computing have already made a major impact on TELECOM domain and are broadly used across leading academic research centers, network equipment device manufacturers and start-ups. Our success has been based on laser-focused industry vertical business development, building a strong developer ecosystem and scaling out the business using a partner channel and creative marketing. We need a hard-working and creative individual to help us pursue more of these opportunities in commercial integration of GPU acceleration for 5G and Mobile Edge Computing. This role requires becoming a trusted technical advisor and leader to our customers who believe that deep learning, data science, and artificial intelligence is a new computing revolution and has the potential to transform the entire TELECOM domain.What you will be doing:Develop, enhance, and support Nvidia software for 5G radio access networks Base Band Unit (BBU).

Participate in SW architecture, design, and code reviews. Help implementing missing features to unblock progress at customers/partners.

Engage with customer field trials and technical teams and educate customers on new NVIDIA technologies and platforms, and their potential applications in signal processing, virtual radio access networks, etc.

Be hands on at lab with test equipment, remote radio units and UEs. Help benchmarking and develop/evaluate test tools for Aerial SDK evaluation.

Document what you know and teach others. This can vary from building targeted training for customers/partners, Solutions Architects and other Application Engineers, to writing whitepapers, blogs, and wiki articles, to simply working through hard problems with a customer on a whiteboard.

Be an industry leader with vision on integrating NVIDIA technology into AI, HPC, and embedded GPU architectures for advanced applications, such as virtual radio access networks (vRAN), signal processing, and AI-based Network Operations.

Strategically partner with lighthouse customers and industry-specific solution partners targeting our computing platform.

We make heavy use of conferencing tools, but some travel is required for this role. Be empowered to find the best way to get your job done and highly accountable to accomplished the mission. Keen to make our internal partners and customers successful.

What we need to see:Our ideal candidate has a wireless communication systems or digital signal process background, a passion for building real-world carrier-grade communication systems, and industry experience of developing PHY/MAC layer or base band unit (BBU) software in C/C++.

Understanding of the PHY/MAC layer procedures and typical performance tradeoffs, as well as overall system performance.

MS or PhD in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or Telecommunications (or equivalent experience).

4+ years of work-related industry experience in software development and systems engineering.

Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to optimally collaborate with management and engineering.

Strong time-management and organization skills for coordinating multiple initiatives, priorities and implementations of new technology and products into very complex projects.

Experience in TELECOM industry or with customers/partners in the TELECOM domain.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:Background with radio access network systems or device design, telecommunications regulatory compliance, and environmental critical design processes.

Experience working with modern application deployment practices including but not limited to Docker/Containers and Kubernetes.

Background with modern Deep Learning software architecture and frameworks.

Experience using GPGPU programming and design practices.

Exposure to CUDA/GPU programming is a plus.

Experience with NVIDIA Aerial SDK

The base salary range is 128,000 USD - 258,750 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
