Field Designer II

McCall-Thomas Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a full-time experienced Field Designer II (Electric Utility Design).

Work location: Charleston, SC

Experience required: Electric utility design using AutoCAD skills

This position will be offered as either a 1099 Contractor or a regular FT hire of McCall-Thomas Engineering Co. Note- the benefits section below ("What We Offer") applies only to full-time regular hires of McCall-Thomas Engineering Co., not to contractors.

McCall-Thomas Engineering is a multi-faceted engineering serving clients through Communications Engineering, Civil & Electrical Engineering and Design, Electric Utility Maintenance services, Electric Field Operations & UAS, as well as the McT Learning Center and Print Services.

A McCall-Thomas Field Designer II will be working alongside a team of dedicated individuals committed to our mission of providing quality solutions and services to each of our clients. Primary responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to: 

• Overhead and underground electric utility staking work using AutoCAD
  


• line construction inspection (in line with standards)


• make ready for fiber installation (you will learn codes and Rural Utilities Standards)

What Will You Need:

• HS diploma or GED required


• Eligibility to work in the US without any sponsorship is required


• prior design experience  for this level (basic AutoCAD skills needed)


• ability to travel-primarily within the region


• valid driver's license with a clean driving record

McCall-Thomas Engineering has contracts with several utilities in neighboring states to provide storm damage assessment support in the event of severe weather. Our Electric division employees are required to be available to travel for our Storm Damage Assessment response team when called, either as a Driver or as an Assessor. Details will be discussed in more detail in an interview.
