Compensation: $92,000 - $103,000 base
If you’re the tech who gets sent in when a machine won’t run right, and you’d rather be solving problems on the road than tied to one plant, this role is built for you.
Our client is a global builder of precision surface finishing machines (lapping, polishing, and fine grinding) used by manufacturers across many industries. As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll install, commission, and keep these machines running at customer sites, and you’ll be the face of the company when a customer needs help.
What You’ll Do
Install, commission, and start up new machines at customer sites, including calibration, testing, and sign-off
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls issues, often on a production line that’s waiting on you
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, upgrades, and field modifications, and coordinate replacement parts
Train customer operators and maintenance teams on running and caring for the equipment
Work with engineering on recurring issues and feed field knowledge back into the product
Write clear service reports so the next person knows exactly what was done
What You Bring
3+ years of field service, machine installation, or industrial maintenance on automated machinery
Associate degree or technical certification in a mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or industrial maintenance field, or equivalent military or hands-on training
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including pneumatics and hydraulics
Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams
Working knowledge of PLCs, servo systems, drives, motors, and sensors
Comfort with diagnostic equipment and precision measuring tools
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel about 75%, including overnights and occasional weekends
Authorization to work in the US without current or future sponsorship
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work around industrial machinery
Nice to Have
Background servicing machine tools, CNC grinders, or other precision production equipment
Field service experience with an equipment OEM
Robotics, motion control, or automation experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
Is This You?
Strong candidates often come from machine tool OEMs, CNC service companies, automation integrators, or plant maintenance roles where they were the go-to person for the toughest machines. This is not a fit if you’re looking for a single-site, fixed-schedule job.
