Position Title: Field Service Representative - Steel Mill & Linde
Location: East Chicago, IN
Status: Contract – 6-12 months Possible conversion to FT
Status: On-Site
Pay Range -$27-$30 HR

Who we are looking for / Requirements:   
As a Field Service Technician, you’ll play a critical role in supporting operations and maintenance of advanced water treatment systems at a primary site, plus a variety of other customers in your geographic area. If you’re mechanically inclined, enjoy working with new technology, and are equally at home in a team or operating independently, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for! Required: 
  • High School Diploma / GED / Home School Certification OR international equivalent and 2+ years’ experience of service/maintenance or equivalent in an industrial environment. 
  • Ability to travel and a Valid Driver’s License. 
  • Ability and willingness to be on-call and respond per contract requirements. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely with project teams. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to meet all customer site requirements. 
  • Ability to cover other sites within the area as needed. 
  • Mechanical aptitude and electrical experience are a must-have. 
  • OSHA 10 Certification (needs to be validated prior to start. Course can be taken after offer made). 
  • No TWIC card is needed. 

Desired: 
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in science/engineering (STEM) or technical certificate in Instrumentation, Controls, or programming and/or water treatment equipment, including UF/MBR. 
  • Working experience with PLC control systems, PLC programming, and troubleshooting is preferred. 
  • Water treatment experience. 

What you will do / Responsibilities:  
  • Operate, monitor, maintain, repair, and optimize industrial equipment performance. 
  • Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on a variety of systems and equipment. 
  • Perform analytical testing such as turbidity, hardness, chlorine, pH, CO2, O2, SDI, and TOC, in addition to various other site-specific testing requirements. 
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and adequate supply of chemicals and replacement parts. Create and maintain site paperwork and provide customers with detailed technical summaries of work performed. 
  • Carry out mechanical, electrical, and control troubleshooting on equipment such as motors, PLCs, VFDs, valves, air compressors, ejectors, process pumps, blowers, and instrumentation. 
  • Partner with customer management and operation teams to help advise on system performance, maintenance, and troubleshooting. 
  • Other duties as required. 

Important Notes: 
  • Job is in a Nuclear Power Plant. 
  • Must be able to pass in-depth background checks and random drug tests. 
  • Subject to random alcohol and drug test at any time when onsite. 
  • Must be comfortable with heightened security including armed security guards. Additional Details: 
  • Work Schedule: 40 hours per week with a flexible schedule. 
  • Expenses: Whenever you’re required to purchase specific tools or parts associated with the role not provided on-site, it will then be reimbursed. 
  • Onboarding requirements: OSHA 10, Hair Follicle Drug Test, and Background Check / Investigation conducted by the nuclear plant. 
  • Valid Driver’s License: This role requires quite a bit of travel within your territory, so you’ll need a valid driver’s license. 
  • On-call: Sometimes, emergency service is required. When it happens, you may be asked to step in and save the day. We work hard to balance on-call schedules, which is part of the role. 
  • Ability to gain and maintain access to the customer sites assigned, including nuclear facilities.
