Job Description - Field Service Technician

AUTOMATIC DOOR FIELD TECH: A CAREER FOR THOSE WITH BRAINS AND BRAWN
Like to get your hands dirty at work, but still like to be spruced and looking professional in appearance? Enjoy lifting heavy junk, climbing ladders, and using tools, but still want to interact with customers with the finesse of a salesman? Get the best of blue collar and white collar work as an automatic door field service technician!  



WHAT DOES AN AUTOMATIC DOOR TECH DO?
A typical day begins at our shop with a caffeine jolt, a restock of service vehicles, and assignment of daily service calls. Technicians then travel to 4-6 customer locations within our service area where they troubleshoot, diagnose, and make repairs. This involves selling parts, filling out paperwork to document the superb work being performed, and helpfully answering customer questions, providing technical support/customer education, and converting any grumpy customers into happy ones. Additional calls along a route may be added if they come in, so be prepared to call an audible. A day ends by driving directly home from your last call and putting your feet up.  Also we don't just handle the old and broken, but we do shiny new doors too! Our door techs can have the fun  of installing those new door systems as well.  Variety is the spice of life for an automatic door tech.

  • Attentive in all aspects of workmanship; includes repairs and documentation of work performed

  • Consideration and courteousness to all persons encountered in the work day

  • Helpful and responsive disposition

  • Aptitude for troubleshooting

  • Competence in mechanical and electrical repair

  • Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools

  • Stamina to work fluctuating and long hours based on daily call schedule Mon-Fri

  • Resourcefulness to find answers for equipment or applications you have not seen before

  • Incredible communication that it timely and detailed

  • Professional appearance

THE DEETS:




  • This is a full time gig, with 50-60+ hours a week.

  • We pay pretty darn good, and there are bonuses.

THE FINE PRINT:
This position begins with a 30-day trial, followed by an evaluation to determine suitability for permanent position. Employees who remain past the 30-day trial are required to sign a confidentiality and non-compete agreement. Starting pay is commensurate with experience $19-22/hr.  $23 after training with $25-32/hr. after apprenticeship based on performance.
