Overview
The Field Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing and resolving equipment issues while providing professional, timely service to clients. Technicians work across various customer sites and may travel overnight to support installations, repairs, and upgrades.
This role requires strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, attention to safety, and the ability to work independently while maintaining clear documentation and communication.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and replace electro-mechanical devices including cash registers, coin changers, security equipment, alarms, and POS systems
Diagnose equipment issues and implement effective solutions
Complete service requests and maintenance repairs in a timely and professional manner
Review work orders, manuals, and technical drawings to ensure proper repairs and maintenance
Utilize testing devices, hand tools, and power tools required for service tasks
Follow all company and customer safety procedures and protocols
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation with other technicians in the area
Travel 30–40% overnight, including potential temporary assignments in other regions for installations or upgrades
Maintain accurate documentation using company systems, mobile devices, and service software
Must Have
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills required
Ability to work independently and be a strong problem-solver
Strong attention to safety and willingness to follow safety protocols
Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation with other technicians in the area
Ability to travel 30–40% overnight
Good driving record required
Ability to use a computer and smartphone proficiently
Nice to Have
Experience with POS systems such as Verifone or NCR
Experience working with alarm systems
Experience troubleshooting and repairing electro-mechanical equipment such as cash registers, coin changers, alarms, and security equipment
Experience handling service requests and maintenance repairs in a professional and timely manner
Ability to review work orders, manuals, and technical drawings for maintenance and repairs
Experience using testing devices and multiple hand and power tools related to the job
Willingness to temporarily support installations or upgrades in other geographic regions
