Job Description - Field Service Technician

What is the role about? 


This role supports the company’s commitment to service excellence by performing calibration, repair, and a wide range of field service activities for instrumentation across flow, pressure, temperature, level, and analytical technologies. Working closely with customers, service teams, and internal stakeholders, this individual ensures reliable instrument performance while developing the skills needed to support diverse technical service needs. 


Which tasks will you perform? 



  • Perform calibration of flow, pressure, temperature, level, and analytical instrumentation at customer sites and in the regional service center 

  • Troubleshoot and repair Endress+Hauser and third-party instruments, working directly with equipment to diagnose issues and replace components 

  • Execute a variety of field service requests, including commissioning new instrumentation through startup, testing, and functional verification 

  • Set up, operate, and maintain test equipment used for functional, environmental, and lifecycle testing 

  • Adjust, align, and calibrate instrument components using precision tools, accurately documenting test results and findings 

  • Conduct technical reviews of calibration requests to define execution requirements 

  • Maintain and calibrate field service tools and reference standards to ensure accuracy 

  • Follow established procedures and documentation requirements to meet ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 standards 

  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to provide on-site service, technical feedback, and support


What do we expect from you? 


You will have (required): 



  • Associate’s degree in a technical field or a certificate/schooling in instrumentation or 5+ years relevant work experience in lieu of degree 

  • Travel required: up to 70% 

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and work onsite at customer facilities 


You may have (preferred):  



  • Basic computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft 365, and the ability to learn and navigate additional software platforms as needed 

  • Ability to learn and apply technical concepts across multiple service disciplines 

  • Basic understanding of metrology and fundamental electrical principles, including familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and frequency counters. Exposure to flow, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems is a plus 

  • Awareness of ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 quality standards, with a willingness to learn related compliance procedures 

  • Ability to work and make informed decisions independently and on own initiative 

  • Prioritizes and acts in the best interests of the company by advancing organizational goals, focusing on solution-oriented issues, and making clear, decisive choices 

  • Prioritizes the customer perspective in business decisions by actively seeking to understand customer needs and problems, initiating solutions based on this understanding, and implementing feedback to enhance the overall experience and prevent future issues 

  • Excels in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, effectively prioritizing tasks while adapting to shifting demands 

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities, with a focus on gathering and interpreting data to develop innovative solutions 

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting information clearly, articulating complex technical issues, and engaging with individuals at all levels 

  • Collaborates effectively with others, sometimes across departments, to achieve organizational goals and enhance customer experience
