Job Description - Field Service Technician II Airflow & Environmental Testing


Technical Safety Services (TSS) is expanding — and this is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of something meaningful.  This role offers steady, hands-on experience in healthcare environments, exposure to complex facilities, and the chance to grow alongside a service line that is actively expanding.

PAY, BONUS & BENEFITS

  • Base Pay: $26.00 – $36.00 per hour
  • Final compensation will be determined based on experience, certifications, technical skill level, and internal equity.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Perform airflow and environmental testing in hospital and healthcare environments
  • Support air balancing and ventilation verification across multiple hospital facilities
  • Work in active healthcare settings, including mechanical and hard-to-reach areas
  • Conduct testing during off-hours when required to support hospital operations
  • Travel to healthcare facilities across the Chicago and Indianapolis region
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with healthcare and safety standards
  • Serve as a trusted technical partner to hospital staff and internal teams

Travel & Schedule Expectations

  • Travel throughout the Chicago and Indianapolis region
  • Approximately 60% travel to Indianapolis
  • Approximately 20% travel within the Chicago area
  • Travel typically within a 2-hour radius of Chicago
  • Some overnight travel required
  • Work may include early mornings or later evenings based on hospital scheduling needs

What We’re Looking For
We’re open to a range of experience levels — from strong early-career candidates to experienced technicians who want steady, meaningful work in healthcare environments.

Relevant experience may include:

  • Air balancing
  • Environmental or airflow testing
  • Industrial hygiene
  • Environmental health and safety
  • Mechanical or facilities-related work
  • Healthcare facility testing or compliance work

Education

Preferred degrees include:

  • Industrial Hygiene
  • Environmental Health & Safety
  • Health Sciences
  • Health and Human Services
  • Occupational or Environmental Health
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Certifications (Strongly Preferred)

  • NEEB certification
  • AABC certification
  • Air balancing accreditation
  • Experience working in healthcare environments
