Job Description - Field Service Technician/Road Mechanic Heavy Equipment

Our client is seeking an experienced Road Mechanic/Field Service Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and advanced repairs on a wide range of construction and industrial equipment at customer locations. This role requires strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, independence, and the ability to work safely in both shop and field environments.

Requirements:

  • Diagnose equipment issues onsite at customer locations.
  • Operate company service vehicle safely and professionally.
  • Work independently in remote or outdoor environments as needed.
  • Read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical diagrams.
  • Conduct equipment safety inspections and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records and communicate repair needs clearly.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and advanced repairs on diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Service a variety of equipment including aerial lifts, generators, pumps, HVAC units, and general construction tools.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work indoors/outdoors and travel to customer sites.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and perform physical tasks (bending, crouching, climbing)
  • 1–2+ years of experience as a mechanic working with diesel, heavy equipment, or specialty equipment (generators, pumps, HVAC, oil/gas)
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record (CDL may be required depending on location)

Nice-to-Haves:

  • ASE or IFPS certifications.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or other)
  • Prior military mechanical experience.
  • Trade school or technical training in mechanical or electrical systems.
  • Experience with aerial work platforms or large‑scale industrial equipment.

Work Environment:

  • Field‑based role with frequent travel to customer sites.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather, noise, and industrial environments.
  • Requires bending, lifting, climbing, and working in tight spaces.
