Field Surveyor

Job Title:  Field Surveyor

The Field Surveyor plays a critical role in ensuring life safety compliance primarily within healthcare facilities. This position involves surveying and inspecting fire and smoke-rated walls and barriers, identifying deficiencies, and communicating findings to facility managers and internal leadership. The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge with strong organizational and communication skills.

Role & Responsibilities

Pre-Survey Preparation:

• Arrange all travel logistics, including flights, hotels, and rental vehicles.


• Coordinate arrival and start times with facility managers/directors.


• Confirm survey details and requirements with the Survey Department Manager.


• Ensure readiness of survey equipment and vehicle for travel.

Survey Execution:

• Conduct thorough inspections of fire and smoke-rated barriers for code compliance.


• Document findings with clear, high-quality photographs.


• Utilize Procore or similar construction management software for reporting.


• Complete surveys within established timelines.


• Maintain professional communication with facility representatives throughout the process.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong independent work ethic and ability to manage tasks with minimal supervision.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.


• Ability to read and interpret life safety plans accurately.


• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.


• Ability to produce accurate reports under tight deadlines.


• Clean driving record.


• Willingness to travel frequently.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of firestopping systems, applications, and materials.


• Experience in general construction, firestopping, or related fields.


• Familiarity with Procore or similar project management tools.

Work Details:

• Standard hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (plus paid travel time).


• Frequent travel required.


• Position is fulltime/hourly


• Overtime is available
