Finance Analyst II

Under the direction of the Director of the Department of Finance, Finance Analyst I positions perform various accounting and budgetary tasks; review and prepare the Citywide budget and monitoring reports; maintain, compile and review various sets of financial records and financial statements; process accounts payable and payroll; plan and analyze financial systems and forecasts; monitor internal controls related to financial reporting; and perform other duties as assigned.

You must meet the following requirements on the date you apply, unless otherwise indicated.

EDUCATION :

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education (i.e., minimum completed units = 120 semester/180 quarter).

NOTE:

Additional qualifying professional experience may be substituted for education lacked on a year-for-year basis. One year of full-time experience = 30 semester/45 quarter college-level units.
EXPERIENCE

:

One year of full-time professional-level experience in accounting, auditing and/or internal controls, and/or developing, administering and analyzing budgets. Qualifying experience may include collecting and analyzing financial data for one or more of the following purposes: to make financial or economic projections; research to develop or justify budgets and/or long term financial plans; to prepare financial statements; to reconcile and balance accounts; and/or provide information for policy, internal financial control recommendations or business decisions.
NOTES:

A Master's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Management, Public Administration or a closely related field of study may be substituted for the required experience.
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License or successful completion of all parts of the written test for the CPA License may be substituted for the required experience.
City of San Diego employees using Out-of-Class Assignment (OCA) experience to qualify must submit written documentation signed by their appointing authority or payroll specialist, detailing the work performed, dates, and total number of qualifying OCA hours. OCA experience without the required documentation will NOT be considered.
LICENSE :

A valid California Class C Driver License may be required at the time of hire.
