Job Title: Finance & Investing / Middle School Entrepreneurship Teacher
Job Classification: Certified/Licensed Instructional Staff
Reports to: Middle and High School Building Administrators
Work Schedule: Academic Year | 7:45 AM – 4:00 PM
General Description:
The Finance & Investing / MS Entrepreneurship Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction in financial literacy, investing, and entrepreneurship. This unique role spans middle and high school (grades 6–12) and supports the development of essential business and financial skills that prepare students for postsecondary success, career pathways, and real-world application.
The ideal candidate will possess industry experience and/or certification in finance, accounting, business, or entrepreneurship and demonstrate a passion for project-based learning and workforce readiness.
Qualifications:
- Valid Indiana Professional Educator’s License or eligibility for Workplace Specialist License
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, or a related field
- Preference given to candidates with a Master's degree or CTE experience
- Industry experience in finance, investing, or entrepreneurship strongly preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
Instructional Duties
- Design and implement curriculum aligned with Indiana’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) Business and Information Technology standards
- Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in personal finance, investing strategies, and entrepreneurship fundamentals
- Prepare students for success in postsecondary education, the workforce, and credentialing opportunities
- Use project-based learning, real-world case studies, and hands-on simulations to reinforce key concepts
- Integrate career readiness skills into classroom instruction, including collaboration, communication, and critical thinking
- Establish clear learning objectives and assess student progress using a variety of tools and methods
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and maintain rigorous academic expectations
Classroom Management & Student Support
- Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
- Set behavior expectations and consistently reinforce classroom rules and procedures
- Monitor student performance, behavior, and social-emotional development
- Provide ongoing feedback to students and families; communicate regularly with parents and guardians
- Collaborate with school counselors, social workers, and administrators to support student success
Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leadership to align curriculum and instruction
- Serve on school-based committees and contribute to school-wide improvement initiatives
- Supervise student-led projects, clubs, competitions, and events related to finance or entrepreneurship
- Coordinate guest speakers, field trips, or mentorships with local business and financial professionals
Professional Growth & School Engagement
- Attend faculty meetings, conferences, and professional development workshops
- Participate in open houses, school events, commencement ceremonies, and other community-facing programs
- Stay current with industry trends and integrate modern financial tools and technologies into instruction
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required by school leadership or district policies

- Strong understanding of financial literacy, investing concepts, and entrepreneurial practices
- Ability to implement project-based, experiential learning models
- Proficient in using technology for instruction, assessment, and classroom management
- Skilled in classroom differentiation, behavior intervention, and student support planning
- Effective oral and written communication skills for collaborating with parents, staff, and industry partners
- Experience with or willingness to learn how to operate tools, equipment, or platforms relevant to finance/business instruction
School Activities:
- Participate in extracurricular activities, chaperone events, or lead clubs as assigned
- Contribute to school culture through student mentorship and professional collaboration
- Assist with ordering, maintaining, and inventorying classroom materials and equipment
