Job Description - Financial Accountant II, Investments

Reporting to the Director, Controller and Financial Accounting, this position performs advanced accounting, reporting, reconciliation, audit support, and financial analysis for UICA's investment and endowment activities.
Performs advanced accounting, reporting, reconciliation, audit support, and financial analysis for UICA’s investment and endowment activities, affiliated entities, and related financial operations. This role maintains accurate records, supports compliance and reporting needs, and provides timely financial information to leadership, committees, auditors, and partners.
*This position is eligible forâ¯hybridâ¯work (telecommuting) which includes working on-site at our office in Iowa City.*
Job Responsibilities:
Performs investment accounting for purchases, sales, capital calls, distributions, income activity, foreign currency transactions, and related general ledger entries.
Coordinates quarterly investment reporting, including market value adjustments, allocations, true-ups, rebalancing, performance summaries, and related leadership analysis.
Maintains investment records, system data, fund documentation, and reports needed for accounting, compliance, and operational support.
Supports non-pooled investment activity, including gift monitoring, partner coordination, divestment analysis, and related entries.
Prepares audit, tax, and compliance support, including confirmations, questionnaires, work papers, investment tax forms, and supporting schedules.
Prepares financial statements, budgets, board materials, gift reporting, fee reports, and other recurring financial information for assigned entities and programs.
Provides committee and governance support by preparing materials, documenting activity, routing information, and tracking decisions and actions.
Reviews payroll-related accounting activity and supports benefit tracking, forecasting, reconciliations, cash balancing backup, and related analysis.
Provides responsive accounting and financial support to internal departments, campus partners, fund managers, auditors, committee members, and other stakeholders.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree required; Accounting, finance, or business major and 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred. Experience with investment, endowment, and fund accounting preferred.
