JOB SUMMARY
The Financial Accounting Analyst is a professional role within the Clerk Finance Division of the Clerk Financial Services Department of the Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s Office, responsible for ensuring the proper accounting of financial transactions. This role supports the preparation of the annual budget and annual financial statements and contributes to the division’s overall accuracy and compliance in financial reporting.
In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Financial Accounting Analyst ensures all activities align with the principles of accountability and transparency. A strong technical and organizational foundation is essential, along with strict adherence to confidentiality rules and laws, and the ability to distinguish between public and nonpublic records. Continuous professional development is expected to maintain current certifications and stay aligned with best practices.
The Financial Accounting Analyst applies attention to detail, sound judgment, and effective time management to complete assignments accurately, comprehensively, and on time. Key responsibilities include monitoring performance measures to support accuracy, quality, timeliness, and productivity in financial reporting, while ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures. The role also provides advisory and consultative support to department managers and directors on accounting, reporting, budgeting, and internal control issues.
Additionally, the Financial Accounting Analyst supports departmental productivity and compliance by assisting with the creation and documentation of written policies and procedures, participating in compliance training, and identifying opportunities to improve workflows. The position contributes to streamlining processes, reducing inefficiencies, and strengthening operational practices to sustain the organization’s success and advancement.

Relevant Experience: Minimum of Five (5) years of proven experience in financial operations, with a track record of preparing budgets, financial reporting, and compliance within a highly regulated environment. Experience in assisting project teams, conducting financial analysis, and contributing to policy or procedure development is valued.
