Description

A Financial Aid Team Manager manages a client service team of financial aid staff by distributing workload, monitoring team production, insuring organizational goals are met and maintaining responsibility for the overall management of financial aid services.

This position typically reports to an Assistant or Associate Director of a financial aid department or other appropriate administrator. This position provides management for a financial aid area requiring the ability to supervise, train, and monitor employee performance. The Financial Aid Team Manager must maintain substantial knowledge of financial aid options, processing procedures and regulations. They must be able to interpret financial aid policies and procedures in order to properly trouble shoot unusual financial aid problems while maintaining university, state and federal compliance.

 



Responsibilities

Schedules team members to various duties to fulfill workload responsibilities and determines adjustments necessary to ensure coverage.

Monitors team production to ensure that organizational goals are met and perform annual performance evaluation for team members.

Monitors and interprets federal regulations pertaining to student loan, grant, and scholarship eligibilities and formulates or recommends changes to institutional policies and procedures to comply with regulatory changes.

Serves as an information resource to address any issues relating to compliance and financial aid.

Provides training to financial aid staff on policies and procedures.

Effectively communicates with other USF student services staff or administrators, guarantor agencies, other schools, students and parents to resolve loan data conflicts.

Refers students who are not in compliance with verification requests but have received funds to the appropriate areas.

Take appropriate action upon the discovery of suspected fraud cases.

Assists students in correcting excessive borrowing situations when they occur as well as returning to lender the portion of loan that exceeds federal limits.

 

 



Qualifications

This position requires a Master’s degree in business administration, management, or other related field with one year of related experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in those same fields with a minimum of three years of experience.

Degree Equivalency Clause: Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree.

Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.

A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:

  • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree;
  • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree;
  • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
  • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
  •  

Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
