Job Description - Financial Assistance Specialist





Description

  

• Ensure all required documents for a TFA are in the clients file prior to completing a TFA

• Complete all requested Temporary Financial Assistance Request submitted within 1-2 business days of receipt.

• Ensure all TFAs are submitted to the P.C prior to 11:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays for final approval and processing.

• Maintain regular contact with all Case managers with the status of completed and pending TFAs.

• Review and post all check run spreadsheets received from the finance dept. 

• Maintain correspondence with Landlord who receive payments from JFCS and have multiple veterans in their units (one landlord has more than one tenant receiving rental payments form JFCS).

• Field all inquiries from Case Managers and Program Coordinators regarding TFAs 

• Assist Program Coordinator, tracking all TFA payments

• Comply with JFCS policies and procedures regarding confidentiality and the release of Protected Health Information (PHI) as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)

• Aid with special projects, such as annual Veteran Stand Downs, within the OMAP service area

• Provide other assistance to the OMAP Program Coordinator, as required.


Requirements

  

§ A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of higher education, preferably in a human services-related program (preferred)

§ At least two years of financial service experience (preferred/not required)

§ The ability to work independently and to take directions

§ The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with local collaborative partners outside the agency which build community capacity to include Landlords

§ The ability to express and communicate ideas and knowledge clearly with reasonable organization and conciseness

§ The ability to organize one’s time and effort to meet assigned situations and work demands

§ The ability to recognize, understand and control one’s biases
