We are seeking a meticulous and research- oriented Financial Compliance Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate possesses an understanding of sales tax, Value-Added Tax (VAT), Good and Services Tax (GST), both domestically and internationally. This individual will be responsible for ensuring adherence to financial regulations and standards, supporting compliance reporting, and facilitating the completion of compliance applications for new accounts. While expertise in compliance is essential, the role does not involve legal responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research and Analysis:
· Conduct thorough research on financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
· Analyze and interpret financial data to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
2. Compliance Reporting:
· Prepare detailed compliance reports highlighting areas of adherence and potential areas for improvement.
· Maintain accurate records of compliance documentation and reports for auditing purposes.
· Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address compliance concerns and implement solutions.
3. Sales Tax, VAT and GST Expertise:
· Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of sales tax, VAT and GST principles and regulations.
· Assist in the calculation, reporting, and remittance of sales tax, VAT and GST obligations.
· Provide guidance to internal teams on sales tax, VAT, and GST implications for various transactions.
4. Excel and Sales Analytics:
· Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze financial data, create models, and generate reports.
· Develop and maintain sales analytics tools to monitor performance and identify trends.
5. Compliance Applications:
· Coordinate the completion of compliance applications for new accounts and businesses entities.
· Ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation required for compliance submissions.
· Liaise with regulatory agencies or external partners to facilitate the approval process.
Qualifications:
· Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field not required.
· Proven experience in financial compliance
· Basic understanding of sales tax, VAT, and GST regulations, both domestically and internationally.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis techniques.
· Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
· Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
