The Financial Counselor will be responsible for outreach and enrollment efforts for CommWell Health patients who lack access to health insurance. They will also provide outreach to the community to educate, screen and enroll those who are uninsured. The Financial Counselor will be responsible for screening patients for Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Medicaid, as well as assisting eligible patients with the enrollment process.

• Screen patients for eligibility and assist with enrollment in ACA, Medicaid, and Marketplace insurance plans.
• Provide accurate information and resources on healthcare policies, eligibility, and program requirements.
• Collaborate with insurance representatives, agencies, and internal teams to resolve enrollment issues and support coordinated patient care.
• Maintain thorough, up-to-date records of screenings, applications, and patient interactions.
• Represent CommWell Health by participating in outreach events, ongoing training, and modeling organizational values.
Required:
• Clean driving record with current NC driver’s license and approved by corporate vehicle insurance vendor for driving privileges
• High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly relating to registration or finance is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with healthcare assistance programs, such as Marketplace, and Medicaid.
• Two (2) years experience in a medical, dental, or behavioral health setting preferred.
• Strong familiarity with NC Medicaid eligibility requirements and enrollment process.
• Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Experience or training in Epic
