CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt REMOTE WORK: Exempt

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Financial Journey Navigator is responsible for providing comprehensive financial guidance to members, including transactional services, meeting basic account needs, and assistance with digital banking tools. This role emphasizes personalized service, financial empowerment of members, and support in navigating various banking processes. Due to the nature of this position, job duties must be performed in person.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional performance of member service functions.

  • Presents and explains basic Credit Union services and products, assists in meeting members' financial needs, 
  • and orders checks.
  • Answers questions, solves problems for members, assists with resolution of bookkeeping and checking 
  • account issues, and takes stop payment orders.
  • Receives and directs members and telephone calls, records messages, and utilizes advanced technology for 
  • transaction processing.
  • Assists members via curbside banking for many non-cash transactions.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with members and the community.

  • Develops strong relationships with members, focusing on understanding their financial needs and goals.
  • Ensures personalized service delivery and participates in community outreach programs.

Assumes responsibility for coaching members through digital banking and technology utilization.

  • Educates and assists members in the use of digital banking tools, mobile apps, and ITM machines.
  • Demonstrates how to use digital wallets, set JFCU as the primary digital wallet payment method, and set up bill pay, automatic payments with other vendors, transfers, passwords, PIN, and facial recognition technologies.
  • Acts as a key resource in the adoption of new digital banking technologies and assists members in their effective use.

Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

  • Stays informed regarding economic conditions and regulatory changes.
  • Takes ownership of branch lobbies, ensuring materials are stocked and that the lobby is clean and presentable.
  • Ensures the maintenance, cleanliness, and security of the work area and attends required meetings and training.

Assumes responsibility for meeting predetermined and agreed upon sales goals.

  • Engages in the promotion and sale of credit union products and services, ensuring members are informed about beneficial options.
  • Meets and exceeds sales targets through effective member engagement and product promotion.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Efficient, effective, and accurate performance of member services functions.
  • Achievement of sales targets and goals.
  • Positive feedback from members on the quality of financial advice and product recommendations.
  • Consistent growth in productivity through effective sales strategies.
  • Good business relations exist with members, and problems or questions are courteously and promptly resolved.
  • Good working relationships and coordination exist with area staff and management.

Requirements

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Education or higher. Financial counseling certification preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures, consumer and residential lending practices.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Previous sales experience or experience in a full-service financial institution preferred. Minimum one year related experience preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent interviewing, communication, and public relations skills, proficient in the use of digital banking technologies, strong analytical and financial skills. Must be very comfortable with mobile devices and digital technologies

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

TALKING: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

AVERAGE HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

REPETITIVE MOTION: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.)

WORKING CONDITIONS

NONE: No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (such as in a typical office).

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization. Able to interpret various instructions.

MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to compute discount, interest, profit, and loss; commission markup and selling price; ratio and proportion and percentage. Able to perform very simple algebra.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, instruction manuals, atlases, and encyclopedias. Ability to prepare memos, reports, and essays using proper punctuation, spelling and grammar. Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis; correct punctuation (or sign equivalent), and variation in word order; using present, perfect, and future tenses.
