About the Position


The Financial Planning & Operations Manager is a hybrid project management, process optimization, and financial operations role. This position leads departmental project coordination, improves workflows, drives automation, and increasingly supports financial planning and analysis (FP&A). The role is central to prioritizing work, improving operational efficiency, and producing high‑quality data and insights that strengthen financial decision‑making. The Lead works directly with the CFO and maintains a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Controller


How You’ll Make a Difference


Core Responsibilities



  • Maintain a prioritized project and task roadmap aligned with enterprise and financial priorities.

  • Facilitate weekly traffic/priority meetings to align resources, surface blockers, and drive accountability.

  • Build and manage project plans, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Identify and escalate cross-functional issues requiring leadership intervention.

  • Provide consistent communication to the CFO, Controller, and other leaders regarding status, risks, and outcomes.


Process Improvement & Automation



  • Document current-state workflows and design improved, optimized future-state processes.

  • Lead automation initiatives that reduce manual work and eliminate operational waste.

  • Establish controls and standardized inputs to improve data accuracy and financial reporting.

  • Convert operational improvements into SOPs, process maps, and repeatable frameworks.

  • Transition stabilized tasks (such as system administration or recurring workflows) to appropriate long-term owners.


FP&A and Analytical Responsibilities



  • As automation and process stability increase, this role expands deeper into FP&A responsibilities, including:

  • Supporting and developing budgeting and forecasting cycles.

  • Building financial models for scenario planning and leadership decision support.

  • Performing variance and trend analysis to identify drivers of financial performance.

  • Producing monthly/quarterly financial insight packages for leadership.

  • Delivering actionable, data-driven recommendations to guide financial strategy.


Collaboration & Communication



  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of process and system changes.

  • Act as a change leader, ensuring teams are informed, trained, and supported throughout transitions.

  • Maintain a service-oriented mindset focused on responsiveness and internal customer satisfaction.

  • Weekly traffic/priority meetings with accounting/finance stakeholders.

  • Monthly financial operations and project portfolio reviews with leadership.

  • Quarterly roadmap updates aligned with organizational strategy.

  • Maintenance of updated SOPs, RACIs, workflow diagrams, and other documentation.


Success Measures & KPIs



  • Timely and successful completion of departmental and cross-functional projects.

  • Reduction in manual process time, errors, and rework.

  • Improvements in data accuracy and audit performance.

  • Budget/forecast accuracy and timeliness.

  • Positive stakeholder satisfaction and engagement.



 










Position Requirements





Experience 



  • 2 years accounting/finance experience with demonstrated process improvement work.

  • Skills in project management, process design, data analysis, Excel, BI tools, workflow documentation, and communication.
