Job Description - Financial Services Project Manager

Position Overview

Responsible for executing and delivering multiple projects successfully within financial services; designing project requirements along with achievable milestones and completion dates; then managing projects from identification to completion within agreed timeframes with agreed resources; maintaining project plans and escalating risks early and timely; assigning tasks and championing follow ups; engaging internal and external resources as necessary to ensure successful project delivery. The Project Manager will work with project sponsors to define project goals and objectives; conduct business analysis with a keen eye on enterprise resources; align business analysis and project goals to general business objectives and goals; develop and implement process-based service delivery mechanisms which align to project objectives and support the firm's business requirements; oversee quality control throughout the project life.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Work with various technical and business disciplines to elicit, analyze, validate, specify, verify, document and manage the needs, use cases and requirements of the project stakeholders
Document system requirements based on functional lead guidance; understanding the functional need but also working with technical resources to ensure clarity.
Design project plans, including detailed tasks, timing and project roles; appropriately assess and document costs, obtain leadership approval.
Champion tasks completion through follow ups and escalate as appropriate; motivate colleagues to contribute as needed.
Conduct project meetings and responsible for project tracking and analysis. Make recommendations for next steps/action items.
Highlight challenges/risks in a timely effective manner to ensure project success.
Communicate project status consistently to provide comfort to leadership and project participants to keep expectations aligned throughout the project up to completion; document lessons learned for project team members to lead to future successes.
Prioritize internal/external resources across multiple projects to set project participants up for success.
Liaise between the technical, legal and business disciplines.
Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new softwares.
Acknowledge and respond to project team morale; maintain positive atmosphere even during challenging moments.
Manage project budgets.

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities
Performs other duties as assigned .

Working Conditions
Job is primarily work from home, with in office visits based on need.
Long hours are required periodically.
Education:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in finance, accounting, technology, or related area.

Experience:
Five years of project management experience, preferably a law firm or accounting firm. Experience executing large scale projects to completion successfully.

Special Knowledge:
PMP certification preferred, or demonstrated progress towards achieving.

Technical Skills:
Proficient use of PC and knowledge of MS Office including proficiency in Excel. Demonstrated ability to quickly master new technology.

Attributes:
Strong communication skills, including ability to listen and document needs/requirements thoroughly and articulate solutions along with associated challenges and risks effectively.
Ability to interact with and motivate non-direct reports to participate in projects to achieve desired results.
Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
Able to gather and analyze information skillfully.
Inquisitive nature and demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems.
Plan and prioritize work effectively, along with ability to work independently and with little direction.
Must possess strong drive and able to advance projects to meet high demands.
Demonstrate analytical capacity and strong business/financial acumen including proactive assessment of needed process improvements and recommendation of resolutions.
Must be extremely well organized and detail-oriented.

Qualifications:
Ability to maintain confidential information.
