How you make a difference in this role:
The Fine Arts Manager will support the Senior Director of Math, Science, and Instructional Materials to drive the strategy, process, and partnerships necessary to empower teachers, schools, districts, families, and communities to accelerate arts education (dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts) opportunities for all Tennessee children. This role is uniquely positioned within the Office of Academics and will coordinate and support a coherent arts education strategy across the Department of Education.
Job Overview:
Support all arts education strategic initiatives geared towards district leaders, school leaders, families, and community stakeholders.
Support the Senior Director of Math, Science, and Instructional Materials in project plans related to fine arts.
Support all initiatives related to the state's adoption process for HQIM in the arts.
Support the review and revision of fine arts standards in accordance with established review cycles.
Support a cohesive communication strategy to ensure stakeholder awareness of fine arts initiatives and resources.
Manage the development of guidance and resources to impact arts education instructional practice.
Support districts by highlighting and coordinating resources from philanthropic partners and state and federal funds (when available), as well as encourage districts to partner with external arts providers and grant-making organizations to develop, improve, and sustain arts programs.
Collaborate with internal divisions to provide arts education subject matter expertise including but not limited to Educator Preparation, CORE, Assessment and Accountability, Research, CCTE, Early Learning, Academics and Special Education and Interventions.
Provide TN and TDOE representation with external stakeholders including TN Council of Visual and Performing Arts Supervisors, TN Arts Commission, TN Arts Academy, Arts Ed TN, TMEA, TN EdTA, TAD, TAEA, CMA Foundation, Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation.
Represents TN as the state education agency representative to State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education (SEADAE)
Contribute to the Math, Science, and Instructional Materials team as a thought partner for projects.
Minimum qualifications:
Minimum 3 years' experience in one or more arts education disciplines (dance, media arts, music, theatre, and/or visual arts) as an educator, district-level content coordinator/lead, or other such as non-profit, government arts agency, or state education agency. Bachelor's or Master's degree in dance, media arts, music, theatre, or visual arts education. Teaching license with endorsement in dance, music, theatre, or visual arts encouraged, but not required.
