Fire Guard

The Fire Guard will perform regular fire safety inspections of vessel spaces under their care in which hot work is being performed.  She/he will respond to fire emergencies by taking appropriate responsive action to extinguish fires.

• Possess knowledge about vessel structure, location, and spaces in which work is performed.


• Acquire FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Fire Guard for Torch Operations.


• Provide protection to individuals and property by taking appropriate responsible action to extinguish fires.
  


• Proficiently communicate with subcontractors and coworkers.
  

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, hard hats and safety footwear is required while on work sites. Work will involve visiting work sites both indoors and outdoors at all times of the year.
