Fire Sprinkler Design Manager

Company Overview:

We are a leading fire protection contractor specializing in the design, fabrication, and installation of fire sprinkler systems across commercial, residential, and industrial projects. With a strong reputation for quality and reliability, we are looking for a Design Manager to lead our in-house design team.

Position Summary:

The Fire Sprinkler Design Manager will oversee the design department, ensuring accurate, code-compliant fire sprinkler system layouts while managing a team of designers. This role requires deep technical knowledge of NFPA 13, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, fabrication, and installation teams to deliver successful projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of fire sprinkler designers/drafters.


• Review, approve, and stamp fire sprinkler system designs to ensure compliance with NFPA 13, NFPA 25, building codes, and AHJ requirements.


• Oversee workload distribution, scheduling, and performance of the design team.


• Collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors to support project execution.


• Attend coordination meetings with contractors, architects, engineers, and AHJs.


• Provide technical guidance and resolve complex design challenges.


• Ensure accuracy of drawings, hydraulic calculations, and submittals.


• Implement and maintain design standards, CAD/Revit protocols, and quality control processes.


• Support estimating and business development teams with design input during the bid phase.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in fire sprinkler design with progressive leadership responsibilities.


• Strong knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and local fire codes.


• NICET Level III or IV in Water-Based Systems Layout (required).


• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation software.


• Experience leading teams and managing design schedules.


• Excellent communication and organizational skills.


• Ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
