Position of Firefighter

 

The City of Airway Heights Fire Department is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of Firefighter.  The Department serves a total population of approximately 12,100 year-round residents and operates from one station staffed by 4 career chief officers, 7 career firefighters, and 20 volunteers.  The 2027 salary range for the Firefighter position is $7,057.42 - $8,426.92 monthly, plus an excellent benefits package. Required Experience and Certifications: IFSAC/ProBoard Firefighter I certification; current Washington State EMT-B or National Registry EMT-B. Must possess or obtain a valid state driver’s license.

Written Test and Physical Ability Testing will be on Wednesday October 21, 2026, extending to October 22, 2026 if needed.  Interviews will be on Thursday October 22, 2026, extending to October 23, 2026 if needed. Chief’s interviews will be scheduled on October 26, 2026.

 Qualified employees are eligible for benefits the first of the month after hire date.

• MEDICAL: The City pays up to $1,591.00 for employee and dependent medical coverage.

• VACATION TIME: Employees will receive the following vacation benefit per year:

Year 1-4 = 8 hours/month  

• SICK LEAVE: Employees will accrue 10 hours of sick leave every month.

• PAID HOLIDAYS: The City offers 11 paid holidays and 4 personal holidays.


• CLOTHING ALLOWANCE: $1,500 per year after the first year of employment.
