Job Description:

Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.

We are hiring for one full-time, seasonal position located in Adair near Corvallis, Oregon. This position is anticipated to last from April 1, 2026 through September 30, 2026 (These are estimated dates. Length of season(s) may be shortened or extended depending on project needs, funding, or factors beyond the project’s control).

What you will do:

This position will assist in the management of the Willamette Wildlife Mitigation Program to protect and manage lands, wildlife and public use to provide mitigation for habitat impacted by the federal hydropower system, as outlined in the Willamette Wildlife Settlement Agreement. Day to day operations include easement monitoring, data entry, GIS mapping, maintenance of habitat and land facilities, equipment, habitat development, and programs to facilitate public use on these properties.

This position requires an ATV Safety Card and a Public Pesticide Applicator’s License within thirty days of hire.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, all applicants must meet one of the following options:

  • Option 1: Eighteen months of experience in the care of livestock, agricultural research and experimentation, monitoring game or wildlife, or farming. (six months of fisheries, fish culture, fish screens, or related habitat work experience will count toward this experience).
  • Option 2: An Associate's degree in Wildlife Technology or Agriculture
  • Option 3: A higher level degree in Wildlife Science, Agriculture, or a closely-related degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework

  • Ability to identify native and invasive plants
  • Assessing and maintaining wildlife habitat
  • Biological science knowledge of mammals and birds
  • Using geographic information system (GIS) and ArcGIS Pro 
  • Operating hand and power tools
  • Maintaining facilities 
  • Operating and maintaining electronic or mechanical equipment
  • Collecting and recording data
  • Writing technical or summary reports
  • Working with the public
