Job Description - Fleet & Heavy Equipment Mechanic
We are looking for an experienced Fleet & Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair company-owned trucks and construction machinery that support daily operations in Gardena, California. This role is a hands-on position responsible for ensuring that fleet vehicles and equipment remain reliable, safe, and ready for active job sites.
The mechanic will diagnose equipment issues, perform preventative maintenance, and complete repairs on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and construction equipment. The position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime and maintaining compliance with transportation and environmental regulations.
This opportunity is well suited for a skilled mechanic who takes pride in keeping equipment operating efficiently and supporting field operations through dependable fleet maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy-duty trucks and construction equipment
Perform preventative maintenance services, inspections, and scheduled repairs to keep equipment operating efficiently
Complete routine servicing including fluid changes, brake work, engine repairs, and equipment adjustments
Maintain organized service records, inspection logs, and maintenance documentation
Prepare fleet vehicles and equipment for daily dispatch to ensure operational readiness
Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and state transportation safety standards
Maintain and repair heavy trucks, tractors, trailers, and related construction equipment
Order replacement parts and track inventory to support ongoing maintenance operations
Ensure compliance with CHP, CARB, SCAQMD, and other applicable regulatory requirements
Experience servicing heavy-duty trucks, diesel equipment, or construction machinery
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability for mechanical and electrical systems
Knowledge of fleet maintenance procedures and commercial vehicle safety standards
Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices
Dependable and organized with strong problem-solving skills
Work Environment
Full-time, on-site position based in Gardena, California
Active shop environment supporting fleet and construction operations
Occasional outdoor work around equipment and service vehicles
Full-time Monday–Friday schedule
