Position Title: Fleet & Shop Supervisor
Location: Seattle, WA
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt, On-Site
Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 DOE + opportunity for growth
About Seattle Tree Care
We’re a fast-growing, family-owned tree care company serving the greater Seattle area with professionalism, integrity, and heart. Our teams work hard in the field every day, and they rely on a well-maintained, fully operational fleet to do that work safely and efficiently. That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a Fleet & Shop Supervisor who takes pride in structure, consistency, and craftsmanship — someone who can bring lasting order to the chaos that naturally surrounds a busy, high-demand fleet. This role is vital to the health and readiness of our operation, and we’re looking for someone who can confidently take ownership of the systems and support needed to keep us moving.
About the Role
The Fleet & Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of our fleet of commercial vehicles (both CDL and non-CDL), ensuring compliance with FMCSA regulations, and managing day-to-day shop operations. This is a hands-on role requiring diesel mechanic experience and solid organizational skills. The position also includes oversight of light facility maintenance, mobile equipment and fleet repairs, and leadership of a small shop support team.
This role will involve working closely with the company owner, who has historically overseen this area. We're in the process of transitioning that responsibility and are looking for someone who can step in with confidence, patience, and a steady demeanor—bringing structure and dependability to a dynamic environment.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee and perform maintenance and repairs on our light- and heavy-duty commercial fleet (diesel and gas-powered)
- Ensure compliance with all FMCSA regulations for CDL and non-CDL vehicles — including building out and maintaining digital maintenance records
- Champion a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant shop and yard environment
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules using tools like Samsara
- Diagnose mechanical issues and solve problems with confidence and skill
- Manage parts inventory, tools, and shop supplies, and work directly with vendors for specialized repairs
- Provide steady leadership for a small team of shop and yard staff
- Oversee light facility maintenance for our buildings (lighting, plumbing, etc.)
- Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure vehicle and equipment readiness
- Bring structure to ongoing responsibilities and long-term projects in the shop
What Success Looks Like
- Vehicles and equipment are consistently maintained, inspected, and safe to operate
- The shop and yard reflect our high standards: clean, orderly, and calm
- You lead with confidence and bring a sense of ownership to your area
- Your team knows what’s expected — and follows your example
- Downtime is reduced, and our field crews trust that their gear is ready every morning
- Your systems make things easier, clearer, and more efficient for everyone
- You help us see around corners — anticipating needs before they become problems
What We’re Looking For
- A solid mechanical background with experience working on both diesel and non-diesel (gas-powered) equipment — 5+ years of diesel-specific experience is strongly preferred, but not required if you bring a well-rounded skill set
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations and practical experience maintaining compliance in a commercial fleet
- Experience leading others in a high-accountability, safety-driven environment
- A calm, steady presence who can earn the trust of strong personalities and fast-moving teams
- Comfortable working independently — especially when expectations are evolving or not yet clearly defined
- A natural organizer with the ability to bring order and consistency to complex operations
- Willingness to step up, speak up, and lead by example
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred (or willingness and ability to obtain)
- Certifications such as ASE or DOT Inspector are a plus
- Working knowledge of basic building systems for light facility maintenance (e.g., lighting, plumbing)
Why Join Us
- Competitive compensation: $75,000–$85,000 DOE
- Steady, full-time work with a path for growth
- A company that values initiative, transparency, and craftsmanship
- Leadership that’s actively investing in systems, structure, and support
- A critical role with direct impact on the safety, efficiency, and success of the entire organization
If you’re looking for a place where your skills will be seen, your leadership will matter, and your work will directly contribute to something bigger — we’d love to meet you.
