Fleet Mechanic

MVM Moving & Storage is a fast-growing, multi-location moving company operating across Ohio, Indiana, and Florida. We take pride in maintaining a reliable, safe, and professional fleet to support our crews and customers. We’re looking for a dependable Fleet Mechanic to join our team and help keep our trucks road-ready.

Position Overview:
The Fleet Mechanic will work under the direction of our Lead Mechanic and be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing our fleet of diesel and gas-powered moving trucks, trailers, and equipment.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can work independently, stay organized, and take ownership of their work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and preventative maintenance (PMs) on trucks and trailers


• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues


• Complete repairs on diesel and gas engines


• Inspect vehicles for safety and DOT compliance


• Address driver-reported issues from pre/post-trip inspections


• Maintain accurate service records and documentation


• Assist with breakdowns and urgent repairs as needed


• Keep shop area clean, organized, and efficient

Requirements:

• Prior experience as a fleet or diesel mechanic (moving or trucking industry preferred)


• Ability to diagnose and repair trucks independently


• Must have your own tools


• Strong work ethic and reliability


• Valid driver’s license required


• CDL preferred, but not required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with medium-duty trucks (e.g., box trucks, straight trucks)


• Familiarity with liftgates, ramps, and moving equipment


• Basic knowledge of ELD systems and fleet tracking (Samsara experience a plus)


• Welding or fabrication experience is a bonus
