Job Description - Fleet Services Operations Technician

GeoStabilization International (GSI), Access Limited, and RoadGuard together form a leading infrastructure solutions platform dedicated to protecting people and strengthening critical infrastructure across North America and New Zealand.

GSI is the premier geohazard mitigation firm specializing in emergency slope stabilization, landslide repair, grouting, and micropiles through innovative design-build delivery. Access Limited brings over a century of steep-slope expertise and operates North America’s largest fleet of spider excavators, delivering complex rockfall and geotechnical solutions in the most challenging environments. RoadGuard, founded in 2024, unites industry-leading roadway safety companies providing guardrail, bridge railing, highway signage, fencing, and specialty fabrication services.

Across all our businesses, we are driven by innovation, extreme ownership, technical excellence, and a relentless commitment to measurable results that improve safety and infrastructure resilience.

This role is built for someone who enjoys working with their hands, being outside, and being around equipment—and wants to turn that into a meaningful career with upward mobility.

The Fleet Services Operations Technician is responsible for checking in, cleaning, and preparing trucks and equipment returned to the Kentucky Yard.

The trucks we operate are used by the hardest working crews in the geotechnical construction industry and they are hard-used vehicles, often in need of deep cleaning, unloading, and then reloading when they go back into the field.  You’ll work alongside logistics, fleet professionals and mechanics, supporting GSI’s ability to keep projects moving with safe, job-ready gear.

You’ll be hands-on every day: operating forklifts, telehandlers, and skid steers to move equipment; using software to document what’s returned and what’s ready; and ensuring that every asset is accounted for and prepared for its next deployment.

This is not a traditional fleet depot job. You will work outside, in the elements, on uneven gravel lots, often surrounded by wildlife. There is no climate-controlled space or breakroom. This is real-world, boots-on-the-ground construction logistics in its most rugged and essential form. If you’ve worked in construction, the lumber industry, or other work that keeps you outside doing physical work, this is a place where you can play an important role.

Responsibilities:

  • Support vehicle and equipment check-in: Learn and own the process of receiving returned equipment, including documentation, inspection, and coordination with Fleet and Mechanics.

  • Operate and learn heavy equipment: Train on and operate forklifts, telehandlers, and skid steers for loading, unloading, and moving equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Clean, inspect, and prep gear: Ensure all trucks and equipment are washed, cleaned, and stored in a job-ready state. Perform visual inspections to catch maintenance issues early.

  • Verify and maintain documentation: Cross-check registrations, maintenance records, and operator manuals. Update as needed using B2W, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Execute light maintenance: Partner with mechanics to complete small repairs and preventive maintenance tasks to keep operations flowing.

  • Communicate with purpose: Provide clear updates to the Fleet and Equipment teams on readiness status, open issues, and equipment condition.

  • Contribute to team culture: Work shoulder to shoulder with a hardworking, fun crew. Learn from experienced teammates and bring energy, discipline, and curiosity to every day.

What You’ll Learn in the First 90 Days

  • Equipment/vehicle check-in process

  • Forklift, telehandler, skid steer operations

  • How to load and unload various equipment types

  • GSI/ALC fleet asset knowledge and functions

  • Cleaning/washing standards and workflows

  • Yard operations and inventory controls

  • How to ensure job-readiness of all equipment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Proven experience in equipment maintenance, repair coordination, or a related role.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards in equipment maintenance.

We're eager to find someone with:

  • High learning agility: Quick to pick up new equipment and systems

  • Discipline and drive: Can operate without micromanagement and deliver results consistently

  • Operational awareness: Able to see how equipment readiness links to GSI’s broader mission

  • Growth mindset: Sees this job as a starting point, not a finish line
