We are assisting an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company in hiring a Fleet Support Engineer who will actively contribute to the operational uptime of the company's fleet.
In this role, you'll diagnose complex hardware/software-related issues, interface with cross-functional engineering teams to drive resolution, capture the troubleshooting details, and place them in the internal knowledge database. This role will require flexibility to work nights or weekends as needed with advanced notice.
We are looking for someone who has a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (e.g., transportation, aerospace, or autonomous vehicles). Ideally, you have experience with electric vehicle technology and remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting.
As a Fleet Support Engineer, you'll:
Act as point of contact for real-time escalation from technicians on fleet issues.
Document, amend, and maintain a troubleshooting guide for all technicians to use as faults are diagnosed or resolved.
Establish diagnostic procedures to expedite troubleshooting in the future.
Provide historical review of vehicle/fleet data, parsing/interpreting vehicle logs and their physical implications.
Work with engineering design to improve tooling and detection of issues.
Work to implement effective countermeasures across the fleet.
Define/capture required data points to validate issue resolution.
Occasionally travel within the U.S. to support various operational locations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Automotive Engineering
2+ years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace, or autonomous vehicles
Experience with low/high voltage circuits, Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS), and experience on how to safely troubleshoot
Understanding of hardware and software systems architecture, communications, and support in an operations setting
Embraces a holistic problem-solving approach to identifying issues with high-level vehicle functions and drives specific resolution into single components
Self-starter with the ability to build relationships across the company
Ability to comprehend schematics, electrical diagrams, and connector end views/pinout
Have availability for nights or weekends as needed with advanced notice
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with electric vehicle technology
Experience with remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting
Hands-on experience with vehicle hardware
Experience with Linux and Python-based programming systems for fleet-level data processing
Experience with software that interfaces with hardware
Familiarity with networking, TCP and socket programming
