Flex Caregiver/Caregiver Development Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:

The Western Slope In-Home Care (WSIHC) Flex Caregiver primarily serves to assure continuation of client services during staffing shortages. The Flex Caregiver travels to all regions serviced by WSIHC and provides the full range of care services offered by the agency. As requested, the Flex Caregiver/Staff Development Assistant provides caregiver mentorship, support and training to promote the development of agency caregivers. Full time position, 30-40 hours/week Non-Exempt.

Regular Travel

Use of the company vehicle for most assigned travel outside of Meeker

Tuesday through Saturday Schedule. OR A Combination of 1 weekend day and 2-4 weekday shifts may also be considered

Shifts up to 12 hours/day

Although rare, overnight shifts may be requested

 SUPERVISED BY: HR Staffing Coordinator and RN Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Meet all requirements for level 1 and 2 Direct Care Worker positions


2. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age;


3. Have at least 2 years of caregiver experience or closely related personal care services


4. Excellent documentation and communication skills


5. Maintain an exceptional level of professionalism and effectiveness in assigned duties


6. Must maintain a calm and pleasant demeanor even in stressful situations


7. Demonstrate genuine interest in care-giver role through friendly, caring attitude.


8. Demonstrate a high degree of integrity and dependability in commitment to and in completion of work assignments.


9. Live in Meeker, Colorado, or be willing to relocate there.


10. Maintain current Colorado driver’s license, in good standing with an excellent driving record and necessary auto insurance as required by Colorado.


11. Must be comfortable with frequently driving long distances up to 3 hours in all weather conditions, including snow, ice, and rain.


12. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required


13. Passionate about delivering the highest level of care to our clients even in challenging care environments.


14. Proficient in the use of electronic devices and programs such as Google Maps for wayfinding, electronic records systems, and office programs such as MS Word.


15. Proficient typing and filing skills


16. Ability to accurately manage a busy schedule, working closely with the scheduling coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Flex Caregiver, it is necessary that you fulfill the following responsibilities to the best of your ability, in accordance with agency policy and procedure, and as determined by your agency assignment.

1. Maintains a strong focus on provision of excellent care and serves as an example for new and developing caregivers.


2. Caregiver Development Assistant as requested, will assist in training and mentoring new and existing staff, as well as intake and documentation of caregiver performance feedback.


3. Maintains skills required to meet the care needs of all WSIHC clients


4. Strict adherence to the caregiver’s assigned scope of services and client care plan


5. Demonstrates consistent dedication to compliance, safety and quality of care Actively seeks and integrates RN Supervisor feedback and recommendations Accepts administrative feedback and utilizes this feedback for continual professional growth and improvement Understands and complies fully with all WSIHC policies including attendance policy requirements Complies with electronic visit verification policy requirements with limited missed clocks in an outs Effective at de-escalating difficult circumstances through respectful and professional communication Demonstrates the utmost respect for client and agency belongings and supplies Maintains a thorough understanding of State and Federal reporting requirements and completes timely reporting as required. Remain familiar with and respect the agencies Patient/Client Bill of Rights and Responsibilities Ensure client's safety and security by supervising the home environment.


6. To notify your supervisor and/or appropriate care coordinator of any changes in client condition


7. Enters into an on-call phone rotation


8. Consistently use proper body mechanics and infection control techniques to maintain environmental safety for you and your client(s).


9. To inform Agency of your availability and desire for work assignments and honor your commitment to work assignments that you accept.


10. To participate with staff meetings/in-services as assigned.


11. To remain familiar with the Agency organizational structure and channels of communication.


12. Seeks supervisory guidance whenever you have a question as to a specific task or responsibility.


13. Participate in continuing educational programs, as requested by the Agency.


14. Performs other administrative office duties as assigned including, but not limited to, answering phones, chart auditing, and filing.


15. All WSIHC staff are expected to conduct themselves as a representative of this agency. This means behavior which may adversely impact company property, reputation, services or interferes with work will not be tolerated.
