FLEX Senior Director, Business Transformation Office, Program Management

JOB SUMMARY

The FLEX Senior Director, Business Transformation Office, Program Management is responsible for driving the planning and execution of transformational business and technology initiatives. In partnership with BTO leadership, the role will provide strategy, coordination, and execution support. This position will be part of the Business Transformation Office (BTO) team that supports the transformation of Marriott’s technology and business process ecosystem, enabling Marriott to deliver on our vision to become the world’s favorite travel company. The BTO has been established to enable and accelerate transformational work through unique approaches to strategic planning, program management, change management, experience and business process design, continent coordination, and deployment. Success in this role requires strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, a proven ability to manage multiple work efforts at the same time, as well as a willingness to be tested on difficult and time-sensitive requests.

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience

Required

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Technology, or related major or equivalent combination of education and experience. 


• 10+ years’ experience in change management and/or project management, planning and execution, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance 


• Experience translating complex topics, concepts, business strategies and data into clear, concise and compelling communications 


• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale initiatives and associated change.


• Demonstrated experience evaluating business trends and implementing new business programs and strategies.


• Strong personal leadership, organizational, relationship-building, and negotiation skills. 


• Outstanding formal and informal presentation skills. 


• Self-starter with self-confidence, enthusiasm, and strong customer service orientation. 


• Demonstrated ability to deliver results under difficult conditions, particularly when faced with complexity and ambiguity. 


• Experience working in or on behalf of (i.e., consulting) a large-scale, global enterprise strongly preferred 


• Project Management certification (Agile, PMP or similar) a plus

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES  

• Build Effective Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders. Ensure decision-making balances the needs of various stakeholder groups and promotes the long-term viability of the business.


• Systems and Tools Management: Ensure the appropriate systems, tools, processes, and training are in place to support stakeholders' decision-making processes. Ensure these are consistently applied and used worldwide.


• Identify Opportunities and Risks: Identify emerging business opportunities and risks to determine strategic implications. Provide feedback to key stakeholders and take a leadership role in the decision-making process.


• Gap Analysis and Solutions: Partner with key stakeholders and transformation leaders to identify gaps where there are no tools or systems in place. Ensure tools and systems are globally applicable and deployed. Address gaps through systems enhancements, tool development, process improvements, training, and education.


• Knowledge Maintenance: Maintain first-hand knowledge of developing strategies and advancements to ensure nuances are fully understood and incorporated for global implementation.


• Deployment Planning and Execution: Develop and execute deployment plans for priority global initiatives. Ensure deployment planning includes all tools, information, and resources necessary for a successful launch. Maintain project transparency throughout deployment, schedule and facilitate deployment meetings, and create standard templates to optimize effectiveness.


• Strategic Project Management: Coordinate week-to-week progress, status reporting, and aggregate timelines. Develop project plans and propose strategic direction, goals, and approaches across stakeholders.


• Facilitation Support: Facilitate and prepare content for leadership forums, design facilitation methodologies, and coordinate logistics. Support ad-hoc workshops to tackle risks, issues, and strategy alignment.


• Risk Management: Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and guide contingency planning. Manage risks in alignment with the Program Risk Management Framework.


• Change Control: Implement Change Control processes for the workstreams. Assess and manage changes in scope, major assumptions, costs, and delivery timeline.


• Governance: Develop and maintain governance strategy. Support leadership decision-making across tracks. Establish decision-making rights within the workstreams.


• Execution Support: Provide strategy, coordination, and execution support for the workstreams. Develop actionable recommendations to optimize performance and drive growth.


• Leadership Development: Champion leadership development and workforce planning priorities. Assist in assessing, selecting, retaining, and developing diverse, high-caliber talent. Work with HR to anticipate future talent needs based on business growth plans.


• Monitor Performance: Review ongoing deployment decisions and initiatives to ensure the right approaches and resources are brought to bear on overall business challenges and opportunities. Monitor performance to ensure expectations are met by imperative leadership.
