We are currently seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate to fill the role of Floater. This full-time, day shift position is based in Mifflintown, PA, and offers an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to a culture built on quality, integrity, and teamwork.

We are currently expanding and looking for a Floater with a strong background in machining parts and building cabinets. Machining includes running a CNC, panels saw, edgebander, and other woodworking machines.

The Utility Floater plays a vital role in ensuring smooth operations across various stages of our custom cabinet manufacturing process. This versatile position can perform all of the positions in an assigned area, or throughout the plant, and fill in where needed throughout the day. These areas can include production support, machining, material handling, maintenance, and assisting on special projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in various stages of cabinet production, including cutting, assembling, sanding, and/or finishing.
• Operate all types of wood working equipment in designated area, as needed, while following safety protocols and manufacturer guidelines. This includes CNC machines, planers, sanders, panel saws, band saws, tenor, biscuit jointer, and/or case clamp.
• Performs machine set up, tool changes, troubleshooting, and machine adjustments.
• Perform quality checks to ensure products meet company standards.
• Fill in for absent employees and support areas with high workloads to maintain production flow.
• Assist with custom projects, adapting to unique specifications and timelines.
• Receive, unload, and store materials and supplies in appropriate areas.
• Prepare and deliver materials to different workstations as required.
• Report low stock levels, shortages, or discrepancies to the receiving department.
• Keep work areas clean and organized, adhering to safety and cleanliness standards.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools, reporting any issues to the maintenance team.
• Dispose of waste materials properly and ensure protocols are followed.
• Complete required paperwork, including work orders, inventory logs, and quality reports.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project status and any issues encountered.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to read measuring instruments - required
• Ability to perform basic mathematical skills- required
• Ability to Read Blueprints, Schematics and Manuals preferred
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
• Ability to quickly learn and multitask.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and machinery used in cabinet manufacturing.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with team members and support various departments.
• Detail Oriented in following product specifications and quality standards
• Problem solving skills

Working Relationship

Communication is required across all levels of the organization- executive team, other functional leaders, subordinates, and production floor workers. The Utility Floater works under the direction of the Plant Manager.

PPE

Safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes at all times while on the production floor

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift/move in excess of 50 lbs. at a time
• Stand, walk, stoop, and perform motions for an extended period

Safety

This position expects to adhere to all safety rules to include the use of all require protective personal equipment (PPE). Specifically, eye and hearing protection must be worn at all times while in the production floor.
