Job Description - Floating Pet Care Lead

Description

Sidekicks Stay & Play is expanding and seeking to grow our pet care team. We are seeking dependable, coachable problem-solvers who enjoy helping people and their pets.

What is a floating pet care lead?

This role is cross-functional, assisting in various areas within our facility, with a primary focus on two key areas: Enrichment and Leadership. Their weekly responsibilities 'float' between assisting our enrichment team and the animal care (stewards) team, but require knowledge, skills, and communication in all areas of our business.

Who is the ideal candidate for this role?

The ideal candidate for this role is someone who finds fulfillment in helping others, communicates proactively, is responsible and adaptable, and ensures the job is done correctly. You're the kind of person who can anticipate the needs of others and enjoys maintaining a positive work environment.

Requirements

Candidate Requirements:

  • 1+ Year Experience working with customers/clients/public (Required)
  • 1+ Year Experience in a leadership role (does not have to be management) (Required)
  • 2+ Years Experience working with dogs and cats (Preferred)
  • Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted and team lift upwards of 150lbs
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (our team often walks 10,000+ steps per shift)
  • Must be computer and Apple savvy
  • Reliable transportation is required

ABOUT THE BUSINESS AND POSITION:

Day to Day:

Our team is responsible for the daily care of dogs and cats in our facility. This includes walking and exercise, feeding and medicating, pet health monitoring, pet bathing and non-groomer services, facility maintenance and care, and extensive client communication. Cleaning and disinfecting are all-day occurrences, focusing on pet safety and disease prevention.

How we positively impact people:

Seeing the smiling faces of pet owners as they pick up their pets from boarding, grooming, and enrichment daycare, and knowing they can trust you with their pets, makes it worth it. We build relationships with people and have served many of our wonderful clients by being a shoulder, not just offering a service.

How we work as a team:

Our team will train with a teammate but work independently or with another person during their shift. This means you must be self-starters, motivated, efficient, and possess excellent time management skills. Communicating with our enrichment, concierge, and grooming team for a cohesive workday is essential.

Opportunities For Growth:

We understand growth is not one-size-fits-all. Positions of leadership, opportunities to explore different departments, and expansion into other areas of our business (like veterinary medicine at our sister business, Swann Animal Clinic) are possible. Growth also doesn't have a guaranteed timetable. For those wanting to grow in other aspects, communication and patience are key.

Pay and Benefits:

  • Rate: $11-$13/hour (with room for future growth)
  • Pay Schedule: Sidekicks operates on a trailing two-week pay period. What this means: We are paid on the 1st and 15th of each month. On the 1st, you are paid what you worked on the 1st-15th, and on the 15th, you are paid what you worked on the 15th-End of the Month. This means your first paycheck is respectively four weeks after you start on either the 1st or 15th.
  • Benefits: Part-time employees are eligible for employee discounts at Sidekicks and Swann Animal Clinic, a $150 uniform perk*, and other ancillary benefits. Full-time employees are eligible for extensive benefits beyond this scope, including PTO, Insurance, and other opportunities.

Interviews and Hiring Process:

  • Candidates we are interested in interviewing will be invited to a virtual meet-and-greet with up to three other candidates. This is a 15-minute opportunity for us to get to know you and ask some general questions.
  • After the meet-and-greet, if we would like to pursue the next steps, you will be offered a two-hour working interview. This allows you to get a feel for the position, the flow of the day, and how our team operates, and answer any questions you may have.
  • If we feel you are the right fit for our team at this point, we will offer you a position.
