JOB TITLE: Full-time Floor Assistant

ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB
The Floor Assistant is fully committed to the mission of Habitat for Humanity as set forth in the affiliate covenant and is responsible to grow the organization through providing superior customer service by successfully executing the essential functions of this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE AREAS
● Represent HFHS in a professional manner and effectively relay the mission of HFHS to donors, customers, volunteers and the
general public.
● Deliver superior customer service to HFHS donors, customers, volunteers and fellow team members.
● Display professional, courteous communication in all interactions.
● Under direction of the Assistant ReStore Director, carry out all retail sales floor duties, including but not limited to receiving of goods, merchandising, customer service, housekeeping, and utilization of volunteers to achieve job objectives.
● Adhere to HFHS policies and procedures.
● Recognize the Floor Lead’s leadership and work together to accomplish goals.
RECEIVING OF GOODS
● Ensure that a receiving staff member is present to screen donations when goods are directly offloaded from a donor’s vehicle.
● Efficiently and safely transfer donations from donor and HFHS vehicles into the buildings utilizing volunteer resources when possible.
● Display competent and safe operation of forklift to unload donations when necessary.
● Effectively clean and repair donations while utilizing volunteer resources when possible.
● Ensure proper pricing and labeling of all ReStore merchandise.
MERCHANDISING
● Priority shall be given to the organization of goods that allows a safe and successful shopping experience.
● Ensure goods are clearly marked with price and any additional knowledge of product.
● Engage each potential customer that enters the building
● Under direction of the management team, build racks and displays to effectively merchandise donated and purchased goods.
● Use volunteer assistance in tasks related to merchandising.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
● Accurately answer questions regarding ReStore and products.
● Assist customers on the sales floor and with loading purchases into their personal vehicle as per HFHS safety guidelines.
● Utilize volunteers to assist in providing customer service.
● Initiate opening and/or closing procedures according to the HFHS ReStore Policy and Procedures Manual, as requested.
● Other duties as assigned.
HOUSEKEEPING
● Properly maintain and clean the facility/property as required. Inside and outside of the building.
● Demonstrate and supervise safe practices in all aspects of ReStore operations.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
● Prior customer service or retail sales experience preferred.
● Forklift certification will need to be achieved in the first month on the job.
● Must complete HFHS training program requirements for your job title.

Seeing: Must be able to see to move, arrange and handle donations and goods for sale. 75-100% Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with the public. 75-100% Sitting: Must be able to sit for long periods of time. 0-24%
Standing/Walking: Must be able to move about the work area. 75-100%
Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to stoop or kneel to pick up and/or arrange goods 75-100% Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds with or without assistance. 75-100% Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to carry and handle donations and goods for sale. 75-100%
The work environment includes exposure to extreme or varying weather conditions particularly heat, cold, rain or snow. Depending on the task, work may be performed indoors or outdoors with a moderate level of noise. May be exposed to mold, dust, paint, chemicals, cleaning solutions or other substances.
