Floor Captain

Floor Captain Responsibilities 

Tuesday & Friday - 8am-4pm 

responsible for filling in for call-outs these days! 

• Give morning & afternoon breaks 


• Make sure fridge logs are completed first thing 


• Regular environment checks/rotating bus bins/checking upstairs, sweeping crumbs from floor etc. 


• Check and prep tea and other specialty drink items daily (focus on this later in the day once the rush slows down as to properly support openers) 


• Check and restock grocery/coffee shelves (keep them dusted while stocking) 


• Communicate to baristas when you are available for breaks and when you will be floating- prioritize bar support over prep when needed  


• Receive coffee order and keep coffee wall stocked (make sure to communicate to production if we are missing something in our order) 


• Be available to assist a customer if needed. -Lean on Indya if you need support!
  Record customer complaints and communicate them to Indya before the end of your shift if it can not be resolved in the moment 


• Water the plants once a week 

Wednesday & Thursday 

11am-12:30pm- floating, prep check, environment check 

12:30-6:30pm OR 12:30-7pm 

• Work regular closing shifts. Remember to be present for your co-worker these days! During closing or after you send your other barista home, you will tackle the weekly maintenance list. You will also work with whoever is closing to ensure that the deep cleaning tasks are completed. These tasks will now only fall on days that you are closing 

Saturday 

Make sure the coffee wall & vending machine are stocked for Monday! 

Extra things to keep an eye on- EVERY DAY 

• Keep your eyes open for things that need to be deep cleaned, maintained or replaced regularly. Take charge and complete those tasks during/at the end of your shift. If something needs to be purchased, communicate to Indya 


• Communicate to Indya when we are getting low on grocery restock 


• Communicate to Indya when we need more menus, fridge logs, cleaning logs etc 


• You will be responsible for equipment maintenance and cleaning tasks moving forward!! 


• Keep behind bar tidy and organized-brain storm ways to make flow more efficient and communicate ideas to Indya. Work together to implement new systems. 


• Communicate to Indya if a system is not working 


• Keep an eye on change and communicate with Angie when more is needed 


• Maintain porch, make sure lights are plug in, sweep and wipe down tables regularly 


• Keep up with slack messages and make sure all baristas on shift that day have read/understand/respond when necessary 

Extra Notes 

• Once you step into this role you become the example for all other staff. It is very important that you are keeping yourself in check and making sure you are following all of the rules. If other staff see you cutting corners, they will feel free to do the same. This goes for depth of cleaning, drink production and quality, completing and checking things off task lists, fridge logs etc..
