Job Description - Floor Care Specialist

Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for floor care for all facilities, including polishing hard floors and shampooing carpets. Assure adherence to state statutes and rules, CARF standards, and federal regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Positively represents the organization and promotes Rimrock Foundation’s Mission to the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Sweep, mop, scrub, apply sealer and polish and burnish the floors in the dining room, medical unit, Room 311, laundry rooms, linen rooms, copy room, janitor’s closets and restrooms on a weekly basis. Strip and refinish waxed floors as needed.
  2. Maintain north and south stairwells and landings. Clean and scrub as needed. Apply sealer annually.
  3. Shampoo carpets on a monthly basis or as frequently as needed and maintain a record of when carpets have been cleaned. Remove stains on carpet as soon as possible after occurrence.
  4. Miscellaneous duties: any other floor care tasks requested by Facilities Director or administration.
  5. Shampoo carpets and scrub floors at satellite facilities according to work order schedule.
  6. Set up chairs and tables for Aftercare, Prime for Life and other meetings.
  7. Monitor parking of employees, patients and visitors in parking lot.
  8. Responsible for cleaning parking area and walkways, including snow removal and applying sand to sidewalks as needed.
  9. Prune and water outside shrubbery, mow lawns and apply weed killer as necessary.
  10. Clean first floor windows on inside and outside.
  11. Set up group rooms for meetings and family week.
  12. Responsible for cleaning boiler room and all storage areas of building.
  13. Assist Director of Facilities on repair jobs.
  14. Run errands and do all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  15. Assist Director of Facilities in doing daily mechanical checklist.
  16. Fill the pop machines.
  17. Assist with food delivery when necessary.

Models professionalism by addressing others with appropriate actions, appearance, and communication. Models and promotes effective written and verbal communication.
  8. Customer Service – Supports the organization’s customer service initiative. Strives for service excellence by seeking challenges and turning them into opportunities. Anticipates and meets needs of patients while maintaining appropriate boundaries. Displays a friendly, helpful, and approachable demeanor. Obtains feedback from patients regarding their perceptions of the service provided to them and utilizes this information to improve service delivery.

Serves on committees or process improvement teams to assist in improving quality/customer satisfaction, as assigned.

EDUCATION/TRAINING: High school education and one year of floor care experience in a healthcare or commercial setting. Boiler License preferred.

CERTIFICATE OR LICENSE: Current driver’s license and State of Montana Boiler Maintenance License preferred.

SKILLS: Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment. Knowledge of safety standards and procedures and ability to use basic maintenance tools safely. Ability to interact in a friendly and courteous manner with residents and other staff.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normally consists of work included in general maintenance and boiler engineering. Some use of phone necessary. Lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds from time to time. Stooping, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching about 75% of the time. Full manual dexterity required. Driving of company vehicle required. Ability to climb ladders and maintain balance on ladders.
