We are excited to add a new member to our Eagle Valley Children's Home Team!

We are looking for the following position: Floor Technician

Position Summary:

Responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface flooring, cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of the facility. Performs routine housekeeping, janitorial and laundry duties.

Weekly Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 6:00pm - 2:30am, 40 hours weekly

Starting Wage: $18.13/hour plus $1.00 per hour wage differential 

Essential Job Responsibilities: Floor Care and Maintenance

· Clean and maintain hard-surface flooring and other approved floor types, using methods appropriate to the surface and manufacturer recommendations.

· Dust mop, wet mop, scrub, strip, refinish, wax, buff, and burnish floors according to established schedules and facility needs.

· Vacuum, spot-clean, shampoo, and extract carpets, rugs, mats, and upholstery as assigned.

· Move and return furniture, equipment, and other items as needed to complete floor-care work safely and thoroughly.

· Inspect completed work for quality, safety, residue, damage, and slip or trip hazards; place and remove caution signage and barriers as appropriate.

· Respond promptly to spills, tracked-in moisture, stains, odors, and other floor-related concerns, including urgent needs reported by staff.

· Follow preventive floor-care schedules and notify the Housekeeping Supervisor of damaged flooring, needed repairs, or conditions outside the scope of routine maintenance.

Housekeeping and Sanitation

· Perform assigned routine and deep-cleaning duties in residential building, common areas, pool, restroom, and other facility areas.

· Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, client equipment and furniture, windows, sills, fixtures, and housekeeping equipment using approved products and procedures.

· Empty trash and replace liners; handle waste in accordance with infection-control, safety, and facility requirements.

· Maintain sanitary conditions and help keep assigned storage, work, and equipment areas clean, organized, and secure.

· Use appropriate cleaning methods around clients and coordinate work to minimize disruption to client routines, programs, meals, and rest.

Laundry Support

· Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, hang, and return client clothing, bibs, linens, and other washable items according to facility procedures.

· Record, and chart laundry or related information when required; maintain accurate and timely documentation.

· Handle soiled or contaminated laundry using required precautions and infection-control practices.

Equipment, Chemicals, and Supplies

· Complete a pre-use safety inspection of floor-care, housekeeping, and laundry equipment; operate equipment only when trained and authorized.

· Safely operate specialized equipment such as high-speed burnishers, floor machines, automatic scrubbers, carpet extractors, and wet/dry vacuums.

· Clean equipment after use, complete routine operator maintenance, store equipment securely, and report damage or malfunctions promptly; remove unsafe equipment from service.

· Use, label, dilute, and store cleaning chemicals according to product instructions, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), EVCH procedures, and required personal protective equipment (PPE). Never mix incompatible chemicals.

· Monitor assigned supplies and inventory, rotate stock as appropriate, and notify the Housekeeping Supervisor before critical items are depleted.

Safety, Service, and Organizational Responsibilities

· Follow EVCH safety, infection-control, emergency, security, administrative, and confidentiality policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

· Identify and promptly correct or report unsafe, unsanitary, damaged, or unusual conditions, including spills, leaks, blocked exits, unsecured doors, pest concerns, and equipment hazards.

· Maintain awareness of clients, employees, and visitors while working; protect privacy, dignity, belongings, and access to living and program areas.

· Communicate respectfully and effectively with clients, coworkers, supervisors, and other departments; respond to requests and priorities in a timely manner.

· Plan and prioritize work, complete assigned schedules and checklists, and maintain required records accurately.

· Work independently and cooperatively as part of the housekeeping team, provide coverage or assistance when assigned, and support a positive and respectful workplace culture.

· Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, evenings, or adjusted hours when required by facility needs.

· Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.


Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

· At least 18 months of commercial or institutional floor-care experience preferred, including experience stripping, refinishing, waxing, buffing, and burnishing floors with minimal supervision.

· Housekeeping, janitorial, sanitation, and/or laundry experience in a residential, healthcare, hospitality, school, or similar setting preferred.

· Working knowledge of floor surfaces, cleaning methods, chemical safety, SDS information, PPE, infection-control practices, and the safe operation of specialized floor-care equipment.

· Ability to read and follow labels, schedules, checklists, safety instructions, and written procedures and to complete basic records accurately.

· Strong time-management, organization, attention-to-detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work independently, adjust priorities, and collaborate effectively with coworkers and leadership.

· Must have no disqualifying criminal convictions under NRS 449.174.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, push, pull, and use repetitive hand and arm motions.

· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and to move furniture, supplies, laundry, trash, and floor-care equipment safely, with assistance or mechanical aids when appropriate.

· Ability to safely control powered floor-care equipment and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.

· Sufficient vision, hearing, balance, coordination, and manual dexterity to operate equipment, recognize hazards, read labels, and perform cleaning and documentation tasks safely.

· Ability to work around cleaning chemicals, dust, odors, moisture, noise, and biological or other potentially infectious materials while using required PPE and following safety procedures.
