Flooring Specialist

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The Flooring Specialist is responsible for performing skilled flooring installations and repairs across a variety of materials, including Polishing, epoxy, varnish and floor grinding. This role requires a strong understanding of flooring products, installation techniques, and maintenance practices, ensuring high-quality workmanship that aligns with company standards. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of flooring tools, safety protocols, and industry regulations, consistently delivering quality flooring solutions on schedule.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Installation & Repair

•  Perform skilled installation of various flooring materials, ensuring alignment with project specifications and quality standards.
•  Assess and prepare surfaces for installation, including cleaning, leveling, and repairing as necessary.
•  Operate and maintain flooring tools and equipment, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
•  Perform accurate measurements and cuts to achieve precise installation, minimizing waste and ensuring material efficiency.
•  Conduct inspections of installed flooring, identifying and addressing any repairs or refinishing needs.

Customer Service

•  Communicate with clients to explain installation processes, maintenance tips, and estimated timelines, providing excellent customer service throughout the project.
•  Address client questions or concerns regarding materials, installation procedures, or project timelines, ensuring client satisfaction.

Project Coordination

•  Coordinate with other trades and team members to schedule and complete installations, ensuring all requirements are met and timelines adhered to.
•  Assist in the assessment of materials and tools needed for each project, ensuring proper resource allocation and inventory control.
•  Maintain clean and organized work areas during and after project completion.

Safety & Compliance

•  Adhere to company and industry safety standards at all times, utilizing proper protective equipment and following safety protocols.
•  Ensure all flooring projects meet applicable building codes and regulations, particularly regarding environmental and safety standards.
•  Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay informed of best practices and updates in flooring safety requirements.

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES

•  Skilled in handling, cutting, and installing various flooring materials, with a strong attention to detail.
•  Excellent physical coordination and manual dexterity.
•  Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints and floor plans.
•  Effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
•  Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and other standard communication tools for reporting and documentation.
•  Strong communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

•  High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training in flooring installation is a plus.
•  Minimum of 3 years of experience in flooring installation or a related role.
•  Comprehensive knowledge of flooring materials, installation methods, maintenance, and safety protocols.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS

•  Primarily on-site at client locations, with occasional travel within the division for various projects.
•  Physical demands include standing, bending, lifting (up to 75 pounds), and navigating potentially hazardous environments like construction sites.
•  Standard working hours, with occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

•  Extensive knowledge of flooring installation practices, methods, and materials.
•  Proficiency with flooring installation tools and equipment, including power saws, measuring tools, and leveling instruments.
•  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in assessing flooring issues and developing effective solutions.
•  Organizational skills for managing tools, materials, and project scheduling.
•  Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
