Job Description - Flow Cytometry Clinical Technician/Technologist

HematoLogics has an exciting opportunity for a Flow Cytometry Clinical Technician/Technologist to join our team onsite at our laboratory on the Seattle waterfront. This is a dynamic position requiring the ability to provide accurate and precise clinical laboratory services while fluidly shifting between multiple different duties. We are seeking a candidate with strong interpersonal and laboratory skills to work successfully with our Flow team as well as the other laboratory sections in our medical practice.



HematoLogics was founded in 1995 with the goal of assembling a group of people passionate about the application of advanced technologies to diagnosing and managing patients with leukemia or lymphoma. Responsibilities including but not limited to:



  • Select appropriate flow cytometry panels based on diagnosis/available clinical information

  • Accurately pipette appropriate antibodies

  • Receive and distribute specimens to all sections

  • Process and accurately pipette samples into their appropriate tubes

  • Run samples on flow cytometers and monitor/address flow rate and other acquisition issues

  • Prepare cocktails and other laboratory reagents as well as stock supplies

  • Review instrument QA/QC

  • Participate in department competency program

  • Process Flow department add-ons

  • Participate in laboratory meetings

  • Learn and engage in flow cytometric cell-sorting techniques, as appropriate to team needs


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science is required

  • MT/MLS/CLS ASCP certification or certification specific to hematology H(ASCP) or flow cytometry (SCYM) ASCP, welcome.

  • Full-time onsite physical presence is an essential job function of this role

  • Willing to work 8-hour shifts: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm with a rotating Saturday shift, every 3rd

  • Passion for providing high-quality and industry-leading diagnostic services as well as patient care

  • Deeply committed to continuous learning and staying abreast of scientific advances

  • Works successfully in a team environment

  • Ability to complete tasks successfully and efficiently, as delegated by Lead/Supervisor/Director

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills

  • Able to perform physical tasks, including prolonged standing and lifting items weighing up to 45 pounds

  • Excellent critical thinking skills

Full-time physical presence at our Seattle laboratory is an essential job function of this role.



Compensation & Benefits Package:


HematoLogics offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package which includes medical, vision, and dental insurance with 100% of monthly premiums paid by the company for employees and 50% of premiums paid for an employee’s spouse/partner/dependents. Long-term disability coverage is provided with 100% of monthly premiums paid for by the company. We offer up to 6% match at 6 months tenure and beyond for 401K contributions by the employee.


We offer 12 days of vacation (on an accrual basis), 10 days of sick time (front-loaded at the time of your start date), and 11 paid holidays. We offer tuition reimbursement, anniversary awards, profit-sharing bonuses, 100% coverage of ORCA card or $50 per month onsite parking, and a variety of other benefits to recognize our team’s meaningful contributions to patient care and the company.



Clinical Technician - non-ASCP certified: Hourly range: $36.19-$48.26


Clinical Technologist - ASCP certified including MT/MLS/CLS, H(ASCP) or (SCYM): Hourly range: $42.72-$57.81
