Salary Range:  $19.00/hour - $26.92/hour     Salary Grade:  8     FLSA:  Nonexempt

Purpose of Classification:

The purpose of this classification is to install and remove flow monitoring equipment within sanitary sewage lines; inspect installed meters; and retrieve data from installed units for the County's Flow and Rainfall Monitoring Program.

Essential Functions:

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Assists with the installation, calibration, removal, trouble shooting and servicing of flow and rainfall monitors.

Performs confined space entry for the installation, servicing and removal of flow monitors; monitors site inspections on sewer flow meters, rain gauges and stream monitors; and provides assistance in pollutant tracking in sewage and surface waters.

Conducts monitoring on large trunk sewers.

Performs calibrations of flow/rain/stream monitoring sites.

Prepares monitoring station inspection reports

Assists in responding to hazardous material spills or other emergencies and locating and accessing manholes and rain gauge sites in unimproved areas (e.g. woods, creeks or creek banks, etc.) utilizing maps and/or electronic geographical information systems.

Maintains vehicle maintenance logs and performs daily vehicle inspections.

Loads and unloads equipment and parts for daily use.

Assists in maintaining and performing periodic inventory of equipment storage area and documenting work performed within the electronic maintenance management system.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED; one year of experience in construction, maintenance, electrical, electronics, process control wastewater monitoring, and/or compliance activities; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license; and must possess or obtain a State of Georgia Wastewater Collection System Operator license within one year of employment.
