Flute Authority Client Sales Specialist
Location: Coralville
Reports to: Flute Authority Flute Authority Director of Sales
Summary:
The Client Sales Specialist plays a critical role in driving personalized, one-on-one sales and delivering exceptional customer support for the Flute Authority product lines. This position focuses on building and nurturing relationships with individual customers, teachers, and influential figures in the flute community to grow sales and brand loyalty. The role requires a balance of proactive outreach, expert product guidance, and attentive follow-up to ensure every client receives an outstanding, tailored experience.
You will be responsible for achieving defined sales goals, supporting customers through every stage of their journey, and contributing to the company’s reputation for excellence in both products and service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Relationship-Driven Sales & Support
- Proactively engage with new and existing customers via phone, email, and in-person meetings to understand their unique needs and recommend ideal solutions.
- Build trust and rapport with individual customers, teachers, and Centers of Influence in the flute community through regular, meaningful interactions.
- Guide customers through the sales process from initial inquiry to purchase completion, ensuring a seamless and personalized experience.
- Provide attentive post-sale support, including sending thank-you notes, facilitating insurance appraisals, addressing questions, and offering ongoing guidance as needed.
Customer & Market Engagement
- Represent Flute Authority at sales events, trade shows, clinics, and trunk shows to connect with prospective clients and promote products.
- Participate in competitive research, gather customer feedback, and contribute insights to product development and improvement initiatives.
- Support marketing efforts by contributing content and insights for product websites, digital communications, and social media.
Product Expertise & Quality Assurance
- Develop and maintain deep expertise in our products and the broader flute market to confidently guide customers toward the best solutions for their needs.
- Provide knowledgeable, personalized recommendations based on individual customer preferences and our available inventory.
- Ensure a superior customer experience by carefully play-testing, evaluating, and selecting the highest-quality instruments and headjoints for customer trials and final orders.
- Act as an internal advocate for quality, identifying opportunities to enhance the customer experience through product presentation, selection, and service excellence.
Program & Inventory Support
- Support the growth of the Artist Program by identifying and engaging potential artists, recommending promising candidates based on community insights, and nurturing both new and existing Artist relationships into strong, lasting partnerships.
- Monitor and communicate sales trends and customer preferences, providing thoughtful recommendations to ensure inventory levels are balanced and aligned with demand.
- Maintain meticulous attention to detail in tracking and handling inventory to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Contribute valuable feedback to product development, leveraging your insights into customer needs, competitive products, and market trends to influence new product ideas and improvements.
Travel
Approximately 10+ trips annually for trade shows, dealer visits, sales training, clinics, and other sales-related events.
Education, Experience & Qualifications Required qualifications:
- Background in Flute Performance
- A level of comfort with public speaking is required. The Client Services Manager will routinely be speaking in front of small to large groups of prospective customers to generate sales and leading product training for internal West Music associates.
- Regular travel (including international travel) required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to be insured as a driver of West Music vehicles.
Desired qualifications:
- Prior sales experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Flute performance and/or Music Education.
- Experience with Microsoft applications including Word and Excel.
- Experience with CRM.
