About the State Park Inns:
The Indiana State Park Inns are one of the oldest state parks lodging systems in the country. We proudly operate seven unique and beautiful facilities throughout our great state of Indiana that offer a unique experience for guests to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature and make memories naturally!
The historic Potawatomi Inn, located within Pokagon State Park, sits along the shore of one of Indiana’s largest lakes, Lake James, in Angola, Indiana. The inn features 126 guest rooms, 12 cabins, two onsite restaurants (Lakeview Restaurant and the Courtyard Café), an indoor pool, and 10,000 square feet of banquet/conference space.
Role overview:
Responsible for the purchasing, receiving, storage, and production of food products for all food outlets. Must be able to build business through menu selections, consistent quality and presentation. Accountable for cost controls of food production and outlet sales. Must be able to hire, train, and motivate competent staff. Must be able to communicate effectively with other Departmental Managers and subordinates.
Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $16.45/hr but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.
Role responsibilities:
- Ordering high quality products, as needed, through approved vendors to maintain an adequate par level for forecasted business.
- Implement and maintain proper receiving and storage procedures.
- Ensure production procedures through standardized recipes, establishing par levels, employee training, and presentation.
- Implementation of food safety procedures including regular checks of food temperatures and documentation thereof.
- Responsible for implementing procedures to maintain proper cleanliness and sanitation.
- Maintains food costs and labor cost at agreed upon levels.
- Service guests using standards for service guidelines and following all laws and policies in regards to serving alcohol.
- Create outlet concepts to target hotel clientele and local market.
- Create and update menu designs to fit outlets.
- Utilize training guides to ensure high standards and efficiency.
- Recruit, select, hire, train, and develop competent personnel.
- Develop strategy to meet sales objectives.
- Interact with other hotel personnel to meet objectives of the food department.
- Responsible for the organizational structure of culinary and service personnel.
- Attends weekly staff meetings, BEO reviews and monthly all employee meetings.
- Pursue new revenue opportunities.
- Organize data to determine trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Involvement in national, regional, and local associations.
Role requirements:
- Graduate of Culinary or Management program or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar roll in a high-volume establishment.
- Above average interpersonal skills.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Must be able to lift in excess of 30 pounds while twisting and walking.
- Able to work for extended periods of time standing/moving.
- Serve-Safe certified or the ability to obtain such certification.
- Possess an Indiana ATC Employee Permit to sell alcohol or the ability to obtain a permit.

The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- At the Indiana State Park Inns, success is based around teamwork, quality, integrity, loyalty, passion, friendliness, and safety. Indiana State Park Inns workers provide friendly customer service while ensuring the general upkeep of the Inns to provide guests with a high-quality experience. Overtime Eligible positions serve in the following areas:
- Central Office – Located in downtown Indianapolis, central office positions aid in centralized leadership, human resources, finance, payroll, and administrative functions.
- Positions may include: Administrative Assistants, Holiday Fulfillment Clerk
- Management – These positions work at Inns properties to support day-to-day operations, ensuring superior guest satisfaction while maximizing hotel profitability.
- Positions may include: HR/Account Coordinators, Sales Coordinators, Department Supervisors, Department Assistant Managers, Night Auditors, Special Projects Coordinators
- Guest Services – These positions serve as front-line customer service to guests of the Inns by providing information, answering questions, resolving issues, and handling monetary responsibilities.
- Positions may include: Store Attendants, Guest Services Agents
- Food & Beverage Services – These positions work in the Inn’s dining facilities to handle all dining room and banquet culinary services for guests.
- Positions may include: Banquet Set-Up Workers, Cashiers/Hostesses/Bussers, Dishwashers, Café Attendants, Prep Workers
- Housekeeping Services – These positions work to maintain a clean and orderly environment including in guest rooms, cabins, and common areas.
- Positions may include: Housekeepers, Laundry Workers
- Call Center Services – These positions work out of the call center to assist guests in making reservations and answer any guest questions all by phone.
- Positions may include: Call Center Agents
- Maintenance Services – These positions handle any maintenance items around the Inn, cabins, kitchen, and pool areas including repairs, preventive maintenance, and remodeling projects.
- Positions may include: Gardeners, Maintenance Techs
- Golf Services – These positions promote the game of golf through operational structure and programming to provide a first-class environment for members and guests.
- Positions may include: Pro Shop Attendants, Groundskeeper, Equipment Tech, Equipment Operator
- Aquatics Services – These positions observe guests in the aquatic center to ensure a fun and safe environment.
- Positions may include: Aquatics Attendants, Lifeguards
