Job Description - Food Bank Coordinator


Job Summary:

The Food Bank Coordinator at Mercy Culture Church is a spiritually mature, service-driven leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our church’s food distribution ministry. This individual will embody the values and culture of Mercy Culture—leading not just administratively but spiritually—creating an atmosphere where volunteers and recipients encounter the love and presence of God.

Key Responsibilities

Spiritual Leadership:

  • Model and cultivate a personal lifestyle of daily encounters with God.
  • Spiritually shepherd volunteer teams, leading with prayer, devotionals, and prophetic encouragement.
  • Ensure the Food Bank environment reflects Mercy Culture’s values of excellence, servanthood, and the supernatural.
  • Partner with the Care Team to provide spiritual support to food bank recipients when appropriate (prayer, encouragement, discipleship invitations).

Program Coordination:

  • Manage all logistics related to food procurement, storage, sorting, and distribution.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local food banks, grocery stores, and community partners.
  • Schedule and oversee volunteer teams for weekly or monthly distribution efforts.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure food safety compliance.

Administration:

  • Track data on families served, food distributed, and volunteer hours.
  • Prepare regular reports for leadership on impact and needs.
  • Develop and manage the food bank budget in coordination with leadership.

Volunteer Development:

  • Recruit, train, and pastor a team of passionate volunteers.
  • Create clear roles and responsibilities, equipping volunteers to serve in both practical and spiritual capacities.
  • Celebrate and honor volunteers regularly, reinforcing the value of serving “unto the Lord.”

Requirements

  • Must be a spiritually mature leader who exemplifies the values and vision of Mercy Culture Church.
  • Administrative and organizational strength; able to manage multiple tasks and timelines.
  • Heart for outreach and compassion for the vulnerable.
  • Experience in food distribution, ministry coordination, or nonprofit work (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to lift and move food supplies (up to 40 lbs.); must be comfortable in both physical and people-facing aspects of the role.

Leadership Standards

All Staff and Leaders of Mercy Culture Church must agree and be willing to abide by the Cultural Elements and Standards of Leadership Standards of the church.

Membership

To be employed at Mercy Culture Church, you must be a member of the church or be willing to become a member upon hire.

Work Schedule

This position is part-time/25 week. Your work schedule will be discussed and could either be Tuesday - Friday with Sunday responsibilities or Monday - Friday. Your work schedule could vary depending on events and conferences. There will need to be some flexibility.
