INTRODUCTION:
This position is responsible for managing the entire USDA Food Distribution program for Siletz and other qualifying Indians in the greater Willamette Valley area. As department director, supervises, directs and evaluates the activities of the Food Distribution team, consisting of one clerk, one or more trainees, and community service workers. This position also coordinates nutrition education provided by Community Health Representatives and Advocates and other services provided by volunteers. Food distribution and related nutrition education are provided to improve the physical well being of Native Americans when other resources are not available.

REQUIREMENTS:
Associate’s degree
Associate’s degree in Nutrition, Social Services, or related field. Two year experience in food service, warehousing, or public assistance programs OR- an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Required Trainings:
· Obtain forklift certification within 6 months of hire.
· Obtain certifications for assigned Integrated Food Management System (IFMS) trainings within 6 months of hire.
· Nutrition Education trainings and certifications within 12 months of hire.
· Civil Rights Training within 6 months of hire.
· Disaster Emergency training within 12 months of hire
Knowledge of:
· Provides administrative support through telephone reception, scheduling, maintain accurate records, and preparing correspondence.
· Sanitation principles, practices, and procedures related to warehousing operations, including safe food handling, storage, transportation, and distribution of commodities..
· Warehouse procedures including receiving, storing and inventory management .
Experience in:
Ability to:
· Ensure compliance with Federal regulations governing USDA food distributionprograms, Supplemental Nutrition assistance Program (SNAP), and related entitlement programs.
· Establish and maintain positive relationships with state and federal agencies, program staff, and clients who participate in commodity programs.
· Supervise volunteer line workers as needed in the absence of the USDA Manager.
· Operate standard office equipment, including 10 key calculator (by touch) and standard warehouse equipment.
· Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
· Work independently.
