Pack and deliver USDA food to customers at established distribution sites.
Maintain an accurate inventory of food.
Provide quality professional customer service at all times.
Specific Duties:
Receive, unload, inventory, and store all USDA food shipments.
Safely operate a forklift and pallet jack within warehouse environment.
Open product and set up packing line for USDA food boxes.
Oversee volunteers who assist with distribution and packing lines.
Drive box trucks to distribution sites across 12-county region.
Load food boxes into vehicles for customers during distribution.
Deliver USDA food to partner food pantries.
Maintain and clean vehicles daily, including refuel and fluid checks.
Complete equipment safety checks and reports.
Clean warehouse and storage areas.
Assist with inventory count and reconciliation using First In, First Out (FIFO) standards.
Receive and process Clare County Food Pantry donations.
Participate in personal and professional development activities, including staff meetings, conferences, and training opportunities as identified and approved by supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
Must possess a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience driving a box truck preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Current Michigan Chauffeurs Driver’s License.
Forklift certification or ability to pass certification within the first 30 days.
Annual Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam.
Must complete annual USDA Civil Rights training.
Must have proficient computer skills (Outlook & Internet)
Successful clearance of DHHS Central Registry and criminal history record check.
Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, valid vehicle insurance, and pass a motor vehicle check.
Must comply with Agency smoke-free and drug-free policies.
Understand the importance of daily work attendance.
Physical Demands:
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
The employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to handle and reach with hands and arms.
The employee needs to be able to frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
